We're facing suspension again for a fewmonths .. . however, we'll be looking forward to picking up with you all again in the fall. In the meantime, here's hoping you have a whipdinger of a time on the ol' two weeks with. Perhaps you'll come back determined to scribble us a missive. About 550 of you somehow forgot to write during the last 12 months!
Bye the bye, don't leave for the summer before you send a realistic slug to the Alumni Fund. This is the year we're breaking through the barrier and into the quota-zone.
Have yet to go in the place, but the other day while window shopping at Abercrombie's we spotted a copy of True magazine opened to a story by Corey Ford on the subject of fishing in the Chilean Andes. The Kodachromes illustrating the article were corkers, and small wonder, the lensman was Dan Holland. We told you a while back that the guy gets around.
Bill Gibson is another classmate who has done a bit of roving. In January '52 we reported Bill vice consul in Calcutta, shootin tigers on the side with sundry maharajas. Now word filters back that Bill is in jolly ol London at the American Embassy, 1 Grosvenor Square, as Secretary of Embassy. We regret no official confirmation, and can only conjure that shooting dice on the side wit Winnie may now consume a few of Bills leisure moments.
Spoiled 15 good minutes the other day for Paul Lynch who toils hard and long each day keeping the National Broadcasting Company out of the courts. With justifiable pride, Paul surprised us with detailed descriptions of two late model Lynches, Wendy, 1, and Nancy, 7 weeks, who insure that for a few more months, at least, pa's going to keep on working an ma's going to keep on washing.
From Dayton Huffy Huffman reports things moving along well in the bicycle and power mower business. If you're feeling old enough to need a motor on your mower, better sneak a peak at the Huffy. As for us, we're bidding for a brace of lights from Braves Field. The sun having forsaken Boston, there's little chance a lawn will even grow without light from somewhere.
A little close reading of the program of the Eighth National Conference on Higher Education held in Chicago in March and you find that Lou Benezet, Allegheny College Prexy, headed a discussion group on the subject "Do changing conditions require modification in the preparation of college teachers?". Bet that was a topic that wasn't wrung out in minutes. Too bad Paul Zens couldn't have been a member of the panel. Paul has been elected Acting President of Marlboro College for the ensuing year; he has been at the college on Potash Hill since 1949 except for the past year while at Yale for further study.
Boulder Medical Center at Boulder, Colo., now boasts a 16th doctor in the person of BillCurtis. With the acquisition of Bill's vast knowledge of and experience in radiology the Center can offer X-ray treatment for the first time. Bill is a member of the American College of Radiology and a diplomate of the American Board of Radiology. Since 1948 he has been in Denver where, in addition to his practice, he was consulting radiologist for St. Anthony's and Beth Israel hospitals and served as Secretary of the Colorado Radiology Society. The new job means moving to Boulder but wife Frances, Bill Jr., 9, Dave, 8, and Anne, 5, are ready to go just as soon as the title is clear on the new house.
