THE retirement of Edward S. French '06 as Life Trustee of the College was announced by President Dickey following the annual June meeting of the Board. Beardsley Ruml '15, who has been serving as Alumni Trustee, was elected to succeed

Mr. French, who has reached the retirement age of 70.

Albert Bradley '15 of New York City, honored last month with Dartmouth's LL.D. degree, has been elected an Alumni Trustee to complete Mr. Ruml's unexpired term. He was nominated by the Alumni Council at its June 18 meeting and was elected by a special mail ballot of the Trustees.

At the Board's June meeting, it also elected Thomas B. Curtis '32 of St. Louis to a first full term of five years as Alumni Trustee. Mr. Curtis, United States Congressman from the 12th Missouri District, has been an Alumni Trustee since 1951, when he was chosen to fill out the unexpired term of Lloyd D. Brace '25, President of the First National Bank of Boston, who became a Life Trustee at that time.

Mr. French, chairman of the board of directors of the Boston & Maine and Maine Central Railroads, has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the College since 1934. He has been a member of the Board's executive committee and chairman of the committee on investments.

Mr. Ruml, economist and tax expert, was first named to a five-year term on the Board in 1946 and reelected in 1951. He is a trustee of the Committee for Economic Development, the National Planning Association and the National Bureau of Economic Research.

Mr. Bradley, who is executive vice president of General Motors Corporation, has long been active in Dartmouth affairs. He is the sponsor of a seminar series now being conducted at Tuck School and has been a member of the Board of Overseers of the School since 1951.
