I talked with Rowe recently and found him well and like most of us passing the time by reading and sleeping. Gerould and Grover are fortunate in being able to carry on their research and so keep up their interest and increase their knowledge in their chosen field. As for the rest of us, I feel that we are like some people that I saw in Los Angeles when I visited there a few years ago. There is a park in the middle of the city and I was struck by the number of elderly people who sat on the benches all day long while the sun shone, just soaking up the sunshine. I spoke to the hotel clerk about it, and he said that a number of elderly persons came to California with one dollar and one lung and were trying to hold on to both of them.
