WITH the fall season barely a month old, Dartmouth varsity and freshman teams, on the whole, are doing remarkably well. The Big Green varsity football team has only one victory in four starts, but this Saturday it meets its first Ivy opponent of the season (Harvard) and from here on out, with all league games, should improve on this record. The varsity soccer team remains undefeated in four games and is favored to win the New England and Ivy League championships. In cross country the Indian varsity runners have chalked up three wins and placed second in a triangular meet with Yale and Columbia.
On the sub-varsity level, the Dartmouth Jayvee football squad lost its opening game, the frosh soccer and cross-country teams each have one win and one defeat, while the freshman football team was to face its first opponent October 21 at Harvard. Totals for the varsity teams show eight wins against four defeats, while the '58s have a 2-2 record for a combined total of ten wins and six defeats for all teams.
Primary interest, of course, centers on the current varsity football team. So let's see how the team has been developing and take a look at the games played to date.
