Let's start planning for Whitefield next June!

Just before leaving for her delayed honeymoon in Europe, Mary wrote that she was very anxious to have as many '11ers as possible come to Whitefield this June and meet her Tom. I can assure you that he really is a grand guy, and it is easy for us to understand why Mary is anxious to have all of you meet him. This will be a good opportunity to welcome him into the Class of 1911.

Mary and Tom sail February 27 on the Andrea Doria to land in Gibraltar, and then motor through Spain and spend a week at Majorca. From there they will fly to Barcelona where they will pick up their Citroyen car and tour the Continent for two months. They will be back here May 1.

Word from Leo Muhfelder, who was forced to retire several years ago because of his health, says that he has been "more inactive than ever, thereby having had a fairly good year, most of this due to my good wife, Grace, and the doctors." He has left for California, where they have gone for the past seven years - remaining there usually about two months, preferring the climate of Coronado to that of Albany. He has five grandchildren, three in Albany and two in Boston.

A recent citation from the New YorkHerald Tribune of interest to us all follows:

"Mrs. Marie Peary Stafford, daughter of famed explorer Robert E. Peary, discoverer of the North Pole, has received the Henry Grier Bryant Gold Medal for her own writings and explorations. Mrs. Stafford, now a sixty-year-old grandmother and wife of Washington attorney Edward Stafford, was honored last night by the Geographical Society of Philadelphia. The medal is named for a Philadelphian who was an explorer in Greenland."

Walt Reilly has become a more frequent visitor to Hanover because of his interest in the establishment of a pastorate home in the former Jim Richardson home. Here the Catholic boys may go to meet with Father Nolan, who has recently been made Chaplain of the College. On January 23 Walt's son, Buck - otherwise Walter Jr. - was married to Regina Dolan of Reading, Pa. Buck is in business with his dad.

The sympathy of the Class goes to BoozerQua, whose wife died in December.

Sticky Pendleton was a recent Hanover visitor, but the Secretary missed an opportunity to learn of his present activities.

Mert Wilson has done a pretty good job of scattering his children in different parts of the country. Here's the story of their activities: Carr and Dottie, who left these parts way back in 1951, are happy in Altadena, Calif.; Vicki and her little brother, Peter Carr, help to keep them busy. Allan still pursues the elusive Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley, where they have a fine lot of cosmic rays. Cinda, as of June last, toured the Hawaiian Islands and ended up in a job in San Francisco at Koret's. Chris, the latest departe, is there in care of Uncle Sam, a Lt. in the Army Engineers and part of the Ft. Scott 30th Base Topo Bn. Nancy's engagement to Robert Forsyth was announced at a New Year's Party at the Rectory. A senior at Potsdam State Teachers College and Crane School of Music, she has carried her share of activities in the Agonian Sorority, Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Sigma Mu, Canterbury Club and as circulation manager of Raquette.

Don Cheney continues his activities with the young people of Florida as president of the Central Florida Council of Boy Scouts in Sanford. He has been instrumental in developing a camp for the boys on Lake Norris, and wrote a poem for its dedication entitled "The Saga of La-No'-Che."

Letters have been received from MargaretSisson and Susan Dwinell expressing their pleasure that the Class has contributed to the Memorial Fund in their husbands' names.

Rebecca Shepherd writes that she and Art are going back to New Boston where they have bought a house on Meeting House Hill, and will go forward with its restoration early in April. She writes, "We are looking forward to the time when we can keep the latchstring out for all who come our way."

The following comes from Mac McGlynn, who seems pleased to pay his Class dues to Sarge: "I was very happy to hear from you and as far as I am personally concerned I have no kick whatever as to how the world has or is treating me. I am working for an excellent company and living in an area that I think is absolutely #1 in the United States. There may be certain pleasures to wandering around in six feet of snow of which I have had plenty, but for a greater enjoyment of life, I will take what they have out here, although I still do retain a great deal of love for my old native state of Massachusetts."

I heard that Duke Dunning had had a bad siege with the doctors, but there was no reference to it from his charming wife, who boasts of two grandsons for whom she enjoys baby-sitting. Cathie lives in St. Paul but Steve's eyes are turned toward the Southwest. Dudie is in "Operations" with Northwest Airlines at the Midtown Airport in Chicago.
