Four representatives of the College attended academic occasions during the winter months. In January, Louis L. Silverman, Professor of Mathematics, was present for the inauguration of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Brandeis University, January 14-15; while on the 22nd, James H. Brenner '39 of Macon, Ga., represented Dartmouth at the joint inauguration ceremony of B. Joseph Martin as president of Wesleyan College and George Boyce Connell as president of Mercer University.
On February 1, Morton O. Withey '04, of Madison, Wis., was president at the dedication of the Memorial Library at the University of Wisconsin. Samuel H. Martin '27, of Portland, Ore., represented the College at the inauguration of Charles Johnstone Armstrong. a former member of the Dartmouth faculty, as president of Pacific University, Forest Grove, Ore., on February 2.
