George E. Chamberlin '11 has announced the formation of his own consulting practice in Red Bank, N. J. George is specializing in the design and construction of natural gas pipe lines and other high-pressure piping and welding facilities and he reports that the new venture is getting off to a good start.
Al Richmond '15 writes of a pleasant evening spent with classmates R. H. Foss '15 and D. A. Emerson '15 and their wives. Foss is Managing Director for the construction of an oil refinery at Isle of Grain, Kent, England, that already has taken two and a half years and 50 million pounds. This job is being built by E. B. Badger and Sons (Great Britain) Ltd. and will probably be finished in 1954. Dean Emerson is Vice-President in charge of sales, and a Director, of Star Pin Company, Shelton, Conn.
After 48 years of distinguished service, Morton O. Withey '05 has retired to become Emeritus Dean, College of Engineering, University of Wisconsin. Colleagues, former students, and friends joined to have a portrait painted of Dean Withey. This portrait was unveiled and presented to the University at the Annual Wisconsin Engineers Day dinner, where 400 Wisconsin engineers and industrialists heard Dean Withey highly praised for his many years of outstanding service to Wisconsin's College of Engineering.

The engagement has been announced of Ann Schafer of Washington, D. C., to BrooksDodge '53. Brooksie is on leave from the AUS to compete in the FIS meet in Sweden in February.
Bob Purse '53 graduated this month from the Navy OCS at Newport and will pick up his ship, a destroyer, in the Mediterranean.
In the pursuance of our brief notice last month of the sudden death of Jack Macdojiald. '14 (further details of which may be found in the obituary columns), all Thayer School men will be interested in the thoughtful and generous suggestion of Mrs. Macdonald and the family that money which might have been spent for floral tributes at Jack's funeral be given instead to Thayer School. These gifts amount at the present time to more than $1700 and have been placed in a John S. Macdonald Fund for unrestricted endowment of the Thayer School.
