Cold, rainy weather and lack of practice also hurt the Dartmouth tennis team which turned in only one victory against five defeats on its spring trip. The Indians defeated North Carolina State 7-1 in a match cut short by rain, but then bowed twice to North Carolina University by identical 13-2 scores. They lost to Navy 6-3, and to Georgetown and the Richmond Country Club.

On the basis of the vacation play Coach Red Hoehn has ranked Dan Anzel as the number one player and Stew Stearns second, followed by Dave Kerr, Chet Gale, Doug Archibald and Captain Steve Fast. Kerr is the only sophomore in the group, while all the other men have won varsity letters. Fred Pessl, a junior, along with Bennett Rogers, Fred Darche and Jim Sanderson, also juniors, are the other members of the squad.

The Indians won only a single league match last year, and are expected to improve slightly upon this record. With no really outstanding players on the team, Coach Hoehn must rely upon a wellbalanced squad and improved play for any victories this season.
