Mrs. Grace Stone Tibbetts Hopkins, wife of President Emeritus Ernest M. Hopkins, died suddenly on the night of June 10 at the Hopkins' home at 29 Rope Ferry Road in Hanover, of acute coronary heart disease.
Mrs. Hopkins, a sister of Mr. Hopkins' first wife, the former Celia Stone who died in May 1950, was married to Mr. Hopkins on December 14, 1951. She was the widow of the late Howard M. Tibbetts '00, who served as Registrar of Dartmouth College from 1908 until his death in 1922.
Born in Hanover on September 10, 1882, the daughter of Charles W. and Ida (Marshall) Stone, Mrs. Hopkins is survived by her husband; two brothers, Charles R. and Herman M. Stone, both of Hanover; a sister, Miss Georgia Stone of Melrose, Mass.; and her niece and stepdaughter, Mrs. John R. Potter of Darien, Conn.
Funeral services were held June 14 at the Church of Christ, with the Rev. Harland G. Lewis officiating. Bearers were Albert I. Dickerson '30, Sidney C. Hayward '26, Robert O. Conant '13, Andrew J. Scarlett '10, Harry Tanzi and Edward L. Richardson '29. Interment took place in the Old Dartmouth Cemetery.
