Three '33s appeared prominently in the public prints recently, and each one deserves a resounding round of applause. First, MannieSprague, formerly Deputy Attorney General of the State of Connecticut, was appointed by President Eisenhower as General Counsel of the Department of Defense. He succeeds former Michigan governor, Wilber M. Brucker, who is now Secretary of the Army. Second, Morrell Goldberg, executive director of BethEl Hospital in Brooklyn, was installed as a fellow in the American College of Hospital Administrators at that group's 21st annual meeting in Atlantic City. Morrell has been with Beth-El Hospital since 1937, except for War II when he served as a captain in the AAF, and his new honor is in recognition of his successful experience and outstanding service in the field of hospital administration. Third, George Farrand (who seems to make this column regularly) has been elected treasurer of Young & Rubicam, Inc., with whom he has been associated since 1948.

Justice Robert Doscher, too, of the New York Supreme Court has twice recently been found newsworthy by newspapers. In September he was the principal speaker at the Citizenship Day observance in Yonkers, and just before election day, the U.P. reported that he had stricken from the voting rolls of Putnam County the names of seventeen persons who were also registered to vote in New York City, thus raising a legal obstacle to the accomplishment of the most interesting half of the adjuration to "Vote early and often!"

The executive committee of your class met for the first time on Friday and Saturday of Lafayette weekend in Hanover. The meeting was open to all interested '33ers, and an extremely interesting, valuable and enjoyable time was had by George and Ray Theriault, Bill and Sue Dewey, Hank and Helen Smith, Dick and Helen Jackson, Don and Muggs D'Arcy, Page and Mary Worthington, Mel and Ruth Katz, Sam and Jean Black, Bud and Kay King, Wes Beattie (Jan ran out of sitters), Ross and Judy Gamble, Jack and Madge Wright, Jack and Dottie Manchester, John and Jean Meek. Lup and Jean White and Burt Hack were at the game but couldn't join the deliberations. Executive committee members and Memorial Fund workers who said they would like to have been present but just couldn't make it were Lee Eckels, Wood Foster, Marty Kerwin, Win Rowe, Stu Durkee, Hunter Hicks, Jus Stanley, Ken Spang, Jack Masten, Jim Pimper, Hank McKee, and Jim Doherty.

Harry Hardy and Fran Harrington were in Hanover a week or so too early for the meeting. Ed Foley and Joan, and probably others not reported yet, were there a week late for the meeting on the occasion of the Harvard game (a great one to see!). Someone we sort of expected to see on the weekend and were disappointed not to was Cdr. Gay Milius, whose brilliant but sensitive pictures of Korea delighted my Helen in Hanover last summer.

Some of the highlights of the meeting: The Class of 1933 is now operating under the recommended plan of class organization and roughly under the suggested model class constitution, which will be submitted for official action of the class at our 25th.

The class is still solvent but there aren't nearly enough people who pay that little measly old six bucks CLASS DUES. It was voted not to increase the dues. How about it, kids? Be a friend and send your dues to Dewey! More on this later.

On the Memorial Fund, experts tell us this is a good securities gift year. How about that one for size?

Both D'Arcy with the Memorial Fund and Jackson with the Alumni Fund need lots more of the right kind of help in organization, area supervision, workers. Come on, you fellows who think you can do a job here, volunteer to Don or Dick and don't hold back! The class needs you!

We're going to have a 25th Reunion Book and it needs an editor and assistants. Anybody want to take a whack at it? Let us know!

Anybody dying to get on the Reunion Com mittee? Write!

An informal Ladies Auxiliary to the class has sprung up, and they are promoting a go. Watch for it!

The next meeting of the executive committee and all persons interested will be in Hanover next spring. If you want in, drop us a line!

More of the confidential, inside dope on what went on in Hanover Lafayette weekend will be leaked to you from time to time in future issues. One large point was apparent: there's plenty of work for everybody! So, if you aren't now diligently working for the class and the College, please volunteer by return mail. Let's get this show on the road!

In connection with the Ladies Auxiliary (hereinafter called L.A.), a review of the class records indicates a lack of complete information on the marital status of the following men. For some we lack your wives' maiden names, for example. For others, we feel that many may be or may have been married, but the word has never filtered through. So, if your name appears here and you have or had, in fact, a little (or big) woman, let us know her maiden name, where and when you were married, names and birthdates of children, and any other vital information:

Dr. J. A. Aaron, Dr. C. H. Albaugh, R. B. Allen, Wm. F. Atwood, John H. Barnes, Frederic Birmingham, Dr. E. R. Blower, H. P. Carruth Jr., J. P. Chisholm, F. W. Cleaves, Rev. P. D. Collins, Russell E. Danielson, James H. Doehler, Donald E. Doherty, H. Andrew Dudley, Stuart H. Durkee, Wm. B. Earl Jr., Charles W. Fisher, George E. Flagg, Maurice Fox, Robb G. Gardiner, Robert C. Goodell, Henry Hawgood, Wm. J. Hoffman, Leslie M. Huntley, Charles R. Jones, Wm. R. Jones, Pettus Kaufman, Jack A. Kent, Myron Lamproplos, John Manley, Dr. Philip Marden, Burton Martin, Frederick A. Meyer, Richard Meyer, George Miller, Manuel Miller, G. Jacques Mohr, Dr. Charles Neumann, Capt. J. T. Newton, James Noonan, Arthur O'Connell, John Pringle, Stanley E. Quinn, Charles L. Woods, Stanley Zebrowski, J. Elting Ziemen.

Other members of the class for whom we lack and request the same information are:

Hilliard Birney, John Bowman, Donald Brockell, Charles C. Bunker, Daniel Clare, Frederick Clark, Edward Drake, Walter Fairfield, May Fechheimer, Thayer Fogg, Robert Freeman, Thomas L. Gardner, Hugh Henderson, Dr. David Herzig, F. W. Hollingsworth, James Hopper, E. P. Home, Howard C. Howe, Joseph Hughes, C. H. Irvin, Jack Jennings, John D. Kelly, William L. Rosser, John S. Schulte, Dr. D. H. Stanton, Robert A. Winger, Herbert E. Woodard, John C. Worsham.

The fine list of names following this column are those grand guys who helped make the 1955 Alumni Fund the greatest. If YOUR name does not appear in this issue, it's due to circumstances beyond our control!

Yule remember, I'm sure, that a fine Christmas or year-end present for the College this year particularly, is a gift of securities for the Memorial Fund. Cash is acceptable, of course, if you don't have securities. Now is the time to do or to start your own individual once-in-a-lifetime big deal for the College. Consider it seriously and fearlessly.

Happy Christmas to all of you!
