Roland Eaton, Jr. '26, who was an administrative officer of the Rochester, N. Y., General Hospital, has for over two years been the chief executive officer of the Samaritan Hospital in Troy, N. Y. The year 1954 was a highly successful, financial one for the hospital, which is soon to start the construction of a two-million-dollar addition. Roland's mother was in Miami, Fla., again this last winter. He has a fine family of six children. George (a graduate of Spring Hill College in Alabama) has embarked on a business career; Virginia is one of three women at the Veterinary School of the University of Pennsylvania; Lawrence is a junior at LaSalle School in Troy; Anne and Ethel are respectively in the sixth and first grades of school; and Thomas is 5 years old. Our Roland's other son Kenneth is a jeweler in Wilmington, N. C. - not married.

Major Mary F. Morse in November '54 became Chief Nurse of the American Army Hospital in Nuremburg, Germany. She plans to be home on leave for a month beginning mid-May. Mrs. Morse, who has not been well, and daughter Nancy continue to live at Goffstown (N. H.). Daughter Elizabeth's (died in 1951) son Robert is doing well as a student at Proctor Academy (N. H.).

Harold Hastings had a visit with his son Lemuel (Princeton '35) last fall. Lem is an "industrial forester," manager of the Resources Division of the Paul Bunyan Lumber Company. With his wife and three children, he lives in Redding, Calif. Son Henry '39 lives in Springfield, Mass., has two children. Daughter Mary (Middlebury '37) in 1942 married a Swiss citizen and lived for a few years near Geneva - now in India, near the border of Nepal. Her husband, prior to 1950, had gone to India to engage in rehabilitation and social service work with an organization similar to the Friend's Service Committee.

Nat Thayer's only grandchild, Albert L. Toney Jr., is a senior at the Annapolis Naval Academy. His father is a retired U.S. Navy captain. Nat had two children, Eleanor (Mrs. A. L. Toney) and Mary Elizabeth (Mrs. Charles M. Pond). There are two grand- children - Albert and Betsy Pond.

Mrs. Sanborn reports having had a fine two weeks' visit (including Thanksgiving) in Dover, Ohio, with daughter Miriam (Mrs. Thomas L. Kane) and her family. Miriam's husband is in the coal-mining business. There are two children - Anne (5 years old in June) and Elizabeth (2 years old in May). At this writing, next planned visit is with daughter Elizabeth (Mrs. Wayne F. Comer) in Dallas, Texas. Her husband is associated with Vought Airplane Company. There are three children, Wayne (age 14 in June), Charlotte (age 11 in May) and Marcia (age 9). Mrs. Sanborn plans to attend the 55th reunion.

Mrs. Atwood has expressed regret that she will miss the 55 th reunion in Hanover. Her plans for that time include a journey which will take her south into Texas, up the Pacific Coast and into Canada. Marion is one of the most loyal of our 1900 fellowship. We are sorry that she will not be with us at the reunion in June.

Mrs. Balkam had the Christmas season with her son Robert, his wife and their four children (ages 7½, 6, 2½ and one born January 22, 1055) in Hyattsville, Md. Robert is with the Acme Visible Records Co. in Washington, D. C. Later she visited her son Gilbert '36 and his wife at their home in North Babylon, Long Island, N. Y. Gilbert is with the Chilean Nitrate Co., New York City. Son Stephen '29, wife and two children live in Pomona (Calif.); and daughter, Lucelia, her husband and two children live in Belmont, Mass. Mrs. Balkam lives in Harwichport, Mass. She writes of the charm that Cape Cod has for her and states that it appeals to her more and more. She plans to visit Stephen and his family in California next winter.

Walker Blair's son, Bill (Boston University '39), is now in business for himself - Farmington, N. H., Gas and Appliances Co. His children are David (age 8 in June) and Christopher (age 2 in September). His sister, Elizabeth (Wellesley '33) is a staff member of the Boston Y.W.C.A.
