The Dartmouth Club of Honolulu had a very interesting and successful meeting for cocktails and dinner February 21 at the Pacific Club. The meeting was highlighted by the presence of Charles J. Zimmerman '23, an outstanding figure in the insurance world, an overseer of Tuck School and an Alumni Trustee. We are grateful to Sid Hayward for letting us know that Mr. Zimmerman was com- ing to Honolulu for a visit and helping us arrange to have him speak before our club. We took advantage of this, unusual opportunity by inviting as guests for the evening a group of boys in Honolulu who are interested in going to Dartmouth. An unexpected, but very welcome, alumnus visiting Honolulu for the first time was John H. Hinman 'OB. Other newcomers were a number of younger alumni who are in the Service and stationed here in the Islands. It is always a real pleasure to have visiting alumni and those in the service contact us and come to our meetings.
Mr. Zimmerman gave a very fine talk and brought all of us up to date with Dartmouth, its high objectives, its plans for the future, its problems and how they are being solved. I am sure there were a few new aspects of Dartmouth as it is today which were brought home to some and perhaps all of us. Certainly, there is no finer way of feeling a closer contact with the. College at our distance than to hear one as well informed and enthusiastic as Mr. Zimmerman. Following the talk we had two good movies sent out from Hanover, My First Week at Dartmouth and Jack Frost, both in color and sound. The excellent talk, movies, good fellowship and choice of food combined to make it our best gathering for quite some time.
A large turnout of alumni and their wives came to hear PresidentDickey discuss College affairs before the Dayton Club, at a dinnermeeting held at the National Cash Register Employees Country Club.
