The Dartmouth Alumni of Glens Falls and vicinity gathered at the Hotel Queensbury on March 10 for their annual winter meeting.
More than twenty members and guests were in attendance and were stimulated by Mike McGean's pertinent comments on "Dartmouth's Amazing Alumni."
The films "Eisenhower at Dartmouth" and the "1954 Football Scrapbook" proved most interesting and entertaining.
Official welcome was tendered to Ed Nadeau '48, Hank Brezinski '44, and Jerry Mensel '50, new club members. Dave Trumbull and TomAdriance, both hopeful '59s, accepted invitations to attend and it was a pleasure having them.
Bob Crawford '37, interviewing chairman, reported an increase in the quantity and quality of prospective '59s as compared with the recent past.
Ed McLaughlin '48, enrollment chairman, announced the initiation of the "Dartmouth Book Prize," a presentation to be made annually to an outstanding member of the junior class at the Glens Falls High School.
Bill Brown '16, high school principal, and Vic Liddle were most instrumental in arranging the details of the presentation which is designed to stimulate additional interest in Dartmouth among prospective college candidates and associate the name of Dartmouth locally with a very worthwhile project.
The first recipient of the award is Stephen B. Shapiro of Glens Falls, the unanimous choice of the selection committee.
Plans are already under way for the annual meeting in June when it is anticipated the local undergraduates will be on the scene.
John Bullard '42, Club president, and recently elected assistant controller of Imperial Paper and Color Corporation, chairmanned the meeting with the usual fine assist from KipHigley '24, who insisted on the proper parliamentary procedure throughout.
