Congratulations to Bob Rex upon election as captain of the 1956 football team! To suggest that his parents, Bill and Jean Rex, are pleased is probably a rank understatement. As the blocking fullback, Bob was a very important factor in the games of the past season.

Chick and Jean Hopkins spent a month last fall vacationing in Mexico. Their trip included stops at Mexico City, Cuernavaca, Taxco, Guadalajara, Acapulco and Ajijic on Lake Chapala in Jalisco. Chick says he will see us in Hanover next June.

J. Lawrence Robinson has been elected president of the National Metal Trade Association. He is vice president and director of Jabez Burns & Sons, New York food processing equipment and machinery company.

Donald E. Aronson '55, son of the HarryAronsons, and Margery E. Roth were married in October. After a honeymoon in Europe, the groom entered the Air Force in November.

William D. Mann, business specialist of the U. S. Department of Commerce, addressed the Somerville, Mass., Chamber of Commerce at one of its fall meetings on the subject, "Department of Commerce Services to Businessmen."

Wally Aschenbach will be in Los Angeles for the meeting of football coaches in January. He and Anne boast of a grandson born last August 30.

Speaking of a grandchild, have I told you about ours? Janet Lee Bosworth was born on the night of November 10, missing her maternal grandparent's birthday by two hours.

King Fauver has been elected a Class A director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland to serve a term of three years, beginning January 1, 1956. King also is a director of The Savings Deposit Bank and Trust Company of Elyria.

Gay lord W. Anderson appears prominently in a picture of headtable sitters at the banquet of the Council of United Chapters of Phi Beta Kappa held on the occasion of the meeting in Minneapolis last summer. Andy is president of the Minnesota chapter.

The Howie Almons made a trip East last fall. They spent some time on Cape Cod with the Larry Healys and the Charlie Earles, a case of reunion of roommates, and then made a tour of New England, including a visit in Hanover.

Dr. E. Wilder Spaulding has returned to the United States after a tour of duty as cultural affairs officer in Europe for the U. S. Information Agency. This Agency conducts the U. S. overseas information program to support and explain American policy abroad and to combat Communist propaganda and Ernie's efforts have been directed toward emphasizing our nation's achievements in music, art and literature. Ernie joined the overseas information program in 1949 after eighteen years in the Department of State, where he served as chief of its Research and Publications Branch and directed such major projects as its publication of the German War Documents. It is expected that his next assignment as cultural affairs officer will be in Bonn, Germany.

For a dinner October 18 at the Dartmouth Club of New York held jointly with the classes of 1920 and 1921 by way of a warm-up for the approaching reunion, Johnny Johnson brought out Harry Bruckner, Art Norton, Cec Goldbeck, Len Bernheim, Bill Morrell, Stan Miner, Killy Kilmarx, Rog Eastman, Ralph Reid, Bert Hauser, Lloyd Barnard, Charlie Earle, Larry Healy, Ted Robie and your scribe.

Following the Yale game, Bob and GraceClark were hosts at their Hawleyville home to Stan and Catherine Miner, Frank and BettyHoran, Rex and Helen Malmquist, Fran andLucy Leland, Bill and Odie Lee Bullen.

After serving the class through four campaigns, Jim Hamilton has tendered his resignation as class agent. In view of his length of service and the reasons presented in his letter, there was no alternative and his resignation has been accepted with regret and with appreciation for his accomplishment.

I am happy to announce that Jack Dodd has accepted appointment as class agent to succeed Jim. Readers of this column will recall that Jack is a high ranking executive of the New York Telephone Company, having been elected a vice president a year ago. You will recall, also, that he served as class agent in 1943_1945- Thus he brings ability and experience to the job and I am personally grateful to Jack for accepting the appointment. I know you will share my feeling of satisfaction that the position is so happily filled.
