Our new Head Agent is John Corcoran. A former prexy of the Dartmouth Rowing Club, John graduated with highest honors from Harvard Business School last June and is presently serving in the Army at an arsenal situated but a couple of miles from his home in Boston: any man who can promote such a military "deal" should be an ideal man to improve the Class's performance in the Alumni Fund drive. Congratulations and the very best of luck in your work, Johnny.

Much sooner than we expect, the 1956 Fund campaign will be under way. I hope this year, each member of the class, particularly the nongiver, will pause for a moment and review his performance in the past two drives. The worthiness or need for the Fund is apparent; our responsibility to support it we feel is equally clear. And yet, little better than one out of two members (58%) of the Class contributed last year; the result, '53's last-place showing in the Little Green Derby (comparative contribution records of classes '51-'55)

This spring, let's aim for 100% participation. Remember, a one, two, or three-dollar-gift is far better than no gift. Only you can decide what the right amount should be; but whatever the size, how about sitting down right this minute, and sending your contribution to the Alumni Fund Drive, Hanover, N.H., with your Class clearly indicated. Get '53 off to a fast start even before the drive officially commences, 1 April.

NUPTIAL NONSENSE ... As one might expect, Cupid had a big month over the Christmas holidays, so in deference to his powers, we take a glance at altar activity. Early shoppers in the wedding market included Don W.Smith and George Worthington. Don and the new Mrs. Smith (the former Marilyn Martin of Quincy, Mass.) selected November 12 for the day and the Bethany Congregational Church as the site for their nuptial, and Bermuda for their honeymoon. Don served with the Marine Corps in Korea and Japan for two years following graduation, and is now asso- ciated with the Home Insurance Co. of Boston. Marilyn is a '54 Skidmore alumna. A week later in Akron, Ohio, George Worthington took as his new bride the former Mary Brennan of that city. A veteran of two years' work in Army Intelligence, George with Mary is now residing in Akron where he has accepted a position with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.

But 1 shopping day before Christmas, Lowell Holway Jr. and Loretta Warner exchanged wedding vows in church services in Cambridge, Mass. Since receiving his M.A. degree in Physics from Harvard last June, Lowell has been employed by Raytheon Co., Waltham, Mass., in its research department. The new bride has been keeping herself occupied with studies at Harvard Law School, and this June will take the Mass. bar exam. The day alter Christmas saw Phil Metzidakis and BillMurray succumb to the charms of married "bliss": the femmes fatales were respectively Pauline Jansizian, former American International College student, and nurse Marion Webb. Phil has been studying at Yale for his doctorate in romantic philosophy since his return from Spain's Univ. of Salamanca - where he received his Master's degree in that field, last year. Until recently a teaching fellow at M.I.T., Bill is now a USN ensign, and happily assigned to duty in Las Vegas. How about contributing one of those jackpot winnings to the Alumni Fund, Bill?

We spent the New Year's holidays skiing in the Mt. Moosilauke area, and during the big New Year's Eve party at Moosilauke, we spied Mr. and Mrs. Noel "Chad" Day, bride and groom of less than a month. The former Catherine Ruth Brown, Mrs. Day is a school "mam" while Chad is employed as a chemist in New York City. Other '53s at the holiday party included Bill King, 3rd yr. med school students, Ben Potter (McGill) and Ross McIntrye (Harvard), Lefty and Doris Leavens, Johnny Green, graduate geology student at Harvard, and DizDerzon, hospital administrator in Providence, R.I. It was our first contact with this annual affair, and the combination of hot wine, big open-hearth fire, plenty of food, the close friendship and the all-important sleeping bag made it a most memorable evening.

A brief glance now at the alarming list of Indians ensnared in the betrothal trap in the past two months...Al Collins to Nancy Collins of Nantucket Island, Mass., and Wellesley College, '56; Johnny Home (now with the Ford Motor Co. after two years of Army life in Japan) to Jean Bourque of Maiden, Mass.; Ward Hamm, sales representative of Ditto Inc., to Catherine McCormick of Holyoke, Mass., and Elmira College '55; Fran L'Esperance, fourth-year Harvard med student to Jane Rogers of Shaker Heights, Ohio, and Garland Jr. College '56; another fourth-year med student, Bill Loomis (Cornell) to Jean MacBae of N.Y., and nursing graduate of U. of California; Lt. (jg) Dave Folger USNR to Joan Throckmorton of Caldwell, N.J., and Mt. Holvoke '54; and finally John "Blake" Herring ex-gyrene Lt. and present sales representative for Continental Grain Co. to Joan Gamble of Portland, Ore., and Smith College '54.

Whew!!! I thought I'd never wade through the list. From the eyes of a bachelor, this month's column might appropriately be entitled "In Memoriam."
