We trust that all have enjoyed a bountiful summer (including somehow "Put" Blodgett and fellow farm-folk during this record breaking drought), and succeeded in building up a good head of steam for a busy fall. How about making a special effort to lend some support in person to the Big Green football team? A wonderful excuse to get out in the fresh air and renew old Hanover ties, you might be very heartened to discover several classmates suffering from far more severe depilatory and adipose problems than yourself; at least it's worth a try. If you're in the Boston area on 26 Oct., don't by-pass the Harvard game and the annual post-game Class get-together in one of the local hotels; more information on this affair will be distributed later.

As is customary, news piles up over the summer months, so let us not procrastinate further before visiting

CONNUBIAL CORNER Going back to April 13 in Monterey, Calif., we find Ben Dew and Alice Ferrante of Stanford U. became Mr. and Mrs.; Ben is engrossed in graduate studies at the University. In Dallas a fortnight later, Dean Brady pledged his troth to Betty Lou McDonald of that city in a lovely church service; the Bradys now reside in Dallas. A month later and some 2000 miles distant in Lowell, Mass., Es, Bob Lynah took Kathleen Madden, an alumna of Lowell State Teachers College, as his bride with Frank Putney over-seering as an usher; Bob earned his MBA from Boston U. about a year ago, and has since been a member of our old alma mater, the U.S. Navy. That same day with fellow Mary Hitchcock interns Phil Parshley and Bill LLoomis ushering, the Dr. "Hap" Haggett-Nancy Peterson nuptial ran very smoothly. The bride, a Colby Jr. and B.U. alumna and the good doctor are now living in San Antonio where "Hap" is experiencing his first tastes of Army life.

Shirley Ann Stroup of Connersville, Ind., and Northwestern U. became one of the first June brides when she married Jim Cobb on the 1st, with Ted Spiegel and Steve Pearsall among the ushers. Jim is associated with Kroehler furniture in N.Y.C., and he and his Mrs. are residing in nearby Great Neck, L. I. Jean and Ross Mclntyre, now enjoying Phila. married life, were joined in wedlock on June 6 in the bride's home town of Summit, N. J. Ross received his M.D. from Harvard circa the same date and is now interning at the University Hosp. in Phila. A former Bennington student, Elaine Silverman became the bride of Dave Lewis in her home city of Portland, Me., on June 16; since graduation Dave has been spending a large part of his time studying at the Bentley School of Accounting. On this same Reunion weekend Lt. jg Howie Roonce, USN and Dorothy Marie Perry, Cornell '57 became husband and wife in nearby Randolph, Vt. Howie is presently a flight instructor at Pensacola. A third June 16 nuptial involved Herb Borovsky and Barbara Gordon of Fair Lawn, N. J., and Vassar '57. The groom has been with the National Labor Relations Board since earning his LL.B. from Northwestern in '56 and is now located in Chicago. And finally just a comment that the Art Little-Margaret Randolph and Fritz Harrel-Mary Emma Walsh betrothals announced in the June column have been consummated!!

As expected betrothal columns have also been sprinkled with '53's these same months. Late spring saw Jana Lou Smith of Bradford, Pa., and Marjory Jacobsen of Holyoke, Mass., announce their engagements to Wayne"Cooz" Komara and Paul Supovitiz respectively. The last word from "Cooz" found him working for S. S. Kresge, while Paul is in the Army following completion of graduate study at Columbia. On 8 June, Sarah Halligan of U. of Vt. and No. Conway and Army veteran Wally Ashnault, 3rd yr. B.U. Law student, made public their plans for a fall wedding. A month later Fred Entwistle and Mt. Holyoke alumna Ann Montgomery, and 2 IBMers, Bob Henderson and Carol Traylor, Smith '54 and Boston, announced their engagements; Fred is interning at St. Luke's Hospital, Chicago, following completion of his med. studies at Temple Univ. last June. Bob is a sales representative in IBM's mid-town N.Y.C. office and is anticipating a 30 Nov. nuptial. The last 2 engagements of this issue concern 2 loyal Betas and ex-Marines, Bob "Brud" Humphreys and Bill Vitalis; the former succumbed to the charms of a Marblehead, Mass., schoolteacher, Judith Poole; Bill solidified the involvement of the Buchanan family of Appleton, Wise., in Dartmouth life (Chas. '53, Bill '56) by asking for the hand of their only daughter Jean due to graduate this June from Vassar. Brud is associated with Clock Transistor Products of Waltham, Mass., and Bill is now with Morgan-Stanley investment bankers in N. Y. City.

In closing just a brief word of praise for the Dartmouth Anglo-Canadian-American conference this correspondent is enjoying this weekend. The quality of the speakers and the over-all administration of the event was top-notch and should reflect most favorably in Dartmouth's public relations. Among other '53's in attendance were: Dick Calkins (2nd yr. Northwestern Law School), Phil Fast (Smith Barney, N.Y.C.), Marv Klein (textile business, Manchester, N. H.), Russ Cook (investment business, Boston, Mass.), Dick Dosik (Fed. Reserve Bank, N.Y.C.), Mitch Strickler (Wall Street Journal reporter). . . . See you at one of the games this Fall!!

Will Success Spoil Bill Beutel '53? He is shown with Jayne Mansfield, whom he interviewed over Radio Station WGAR, Cleveland.
