Rounding out a successful year of alumni activity was the Christmas luncheon held December 28 at the Statler Hotel. Ably managed by Bud Barker '52 and Bill Ziegler '50, the party was a huge success, judging by the many favorable comments heard from the alumni, undergraduates, fathers and applicants, who turned out over 250 strong. We were hosts to more than sixty high school boys from the area who have started their application process. They were a fine looking group of boys and obviously enjoyed this first social contact with Dartmouth.

Bringing all the joys and tribulations of be- ing a freshman's father out into the open was C.A. Robinson '23, as he gave us all a short course in learning to keep a jump ahead of today's college students. His son, Dave '59, kept everyone in high good humor as he recounted his experiences during the first three months of the four happiest years.

The business part of the meeting was taken over by Lou Weitz '35, who explained the selective process to the applicants and the functions of the local interviewing committee in that procedure. Lou is chairman of this year's interviewing staff which has been putting in many effective hours meeting with the interested prospective students. His group, composed of Bob Jeavons '48, Bob Jones '29, Bush Keeler '50, Walt Kelly '40, and John Moore '40 will have interviewed over 100 applicants by the time the Class of 1960 is selected.

It fell to Tom O'Connell '50 to bring us news of the College and Hanover. We have enjoyed few better salesmen than Tom proved to be as he presented and represented Dartmouth, and we are grateful for hearing such a cheerful, humorous talk on current events on the Hanover Plain.

Part of the forty alumni and wives who gathered at the Olde Board to launch the 1955-56 series of the Dartmouth Club of Burlington, Vt. Dean Kiendl was guest speaker.
