THE College in recent months has received a total of $47,826 in gifts from corporations, including $29,832 from the Young & Rubicam Foundation, $12,994 from the New England Colleges Fund, and $5,000 from the Colgate-Palmolive Co.

In addition to the sum of $29,832 given to the College directly, Young & Rubicam, through its grants-in-aid program, has awarded a four-year scholarship to Robert C. Hackett, of Chappaqua, N. Y., accepted by Dartmouth for the Class of 1960. Under the terms of the Young & Rubicam Foundation, all employees' gifts to accredited, privately supported, degree-granting colleges and universities are matched by the Foundation. The sum awarded the College represents a contribution matching the gifts to Dartmouth by employees of Young & Rubicam, Inc., advertising agency, in 1955.

The $12,994 from the New England Colleges Fund, is Dartmouth's 1955 share among 22 independent colleges and universities in New England receiving broad financial support from business and industry, to strengthen academic programs in the liberal arts and sciences. In the three years since the start of this cooperative Fund, Dartmouth has received a total of $25,400.

Upon the 150th anniversary of Colgate-Palmolive Co., Dartmouth received $5,000 as an unrestricted grant. Gifts were made to 186 educational institutions on the basis of their academic excellence, progress in improving faculty salaries, and initiative in obtaining regular support from alumni and other sources.
