The weekend of October 11 and 12 saw the first fall reunion of the Class of 1927, but if the enthusiasm of those in attendance is any criterion, it will be far from the last. Everything combined to make it a most happy experience the weather, which was perfect the foliage, which was at its best, and the football team, which obliged with a 35 to o victory over Brown, in a game which was much more thrilling than the one-sided score would indicate. Even the Hanover P.T.A. obliged with a delicious chicken dinner served just outside the stadium before the game. The Hotel Rogers in Lebanon, which will go down in 1927 history as the "Jolly Roger," turned out to be such a satisfactory headquarters that we have engaged the entire hotel for next fall. While the dates for next year's affair have not yet been definitely set, since the football schedule has not yet been made public, the chances are that it will be the weekend of the Penn game, which will probably be Oct. 4.

The entire weekend was planned and carried out by Bill and Betty Cusack, who were rewarded for their magnificent performance by being unanimously elected to serve in the same capacity again next year, and for as many years as we can persuade them to continue.

Outside of the good time that all members of 1927 always manage to have when a group of them get together, and the football game, the highlights of the weekend were the meeting of the Executive Committee on Saturday morning, at which several decisions were reached which should result in imoroved operation of the Class, and the cocktail party and dinner in the Ski Hut after the game on Saturday evening. All in all we counted 43 members of the Class during the weekend, most of them accompanied by wives and several by offspring, and there were 67 in attendance at the dinner. The prize for traveling the longest distance went to Sam and Ellen Martin, who came from Portland, Ore., and to Duke and Sonia Coulter, from San Francisco, though Duke's credit for making the long journey has to be diluted by the fact that lie is in the process of moving to New York. Effective Nov. 1, he assumes the position of vice president of the St. Louis and San Francisco Railway Company, in charge of finance and traffic for the New York area, with headquarters in New York City. Duke will have two offices, one downtown for his financial duties, and one in mid-town for his traffic responsibilities.

While Don Colby was in Lebanon at the time we all were, we didn't see him, as he was busy attending the ordination services of his son, James G. Colby '54, as a Baptist minister. Jim was ordained on Oct. 12 at the Baptist Church in Lebanon. His chief interest is in the mission field, and his immediate assignment is the Red Sea Mission Team, an inter-denominational mission. He left this country in late October for England, from where he expected to proceed to Aden to study the Arabic language. Eventually he expects to go to Eritrea where the group will be working with Moslem tribes. The particular tribe with which he expects to work is a Nomadic group living in an area where there are no roads, with the only transportation inland being by camel, and coastwise by the monthly government boat. The tribe is illiterate in its own language, since it has never been reduced to writing. An effort in this direction may be part of the team's work.

Bill King has recently purchased Dexter's Lodge, Stagecoach Road, Sunapee, N. H. Dexter's, which is a ski lodge and summer resort, was founded in 1948 by Dexter Richards '42, in an 1820 farmhouse on 180 maplecovered acres. Bill will open the Lodge for the winter season on December 28, assisted by his wife, Eleanor, his son Michael '57, and his daughter Sheila. Bill has been long associated with the wool industry, as executive vice president of the Felters Company, of Marsh field, Mass. He has been an associate member of the Boston Wool Trade Association, a director of the National Association of Wool Manufacturers, and a past president and director of the Felt Association.

George Provost has been elected president of Doubleday-Hill Electric Co. of Pittsburgh, succeeding his father. George started with this company in 1948, after having been associated for ten years as assistant vice president, with the Hanover Bank in New York. Previously, he had been with the Commercial Credit Corp. in Chicago, and General Motors Acceptance Corp.

Linda Dreher, daughter of Roy and Lillie, was married on Nov. 16 to Theodore Jay Blair at the First Congregational Church in Chaopaqua, N. Y.

Bill St. Amant has been appointed advertising director of Field and Stream Magazine.

A note from Jim Chandler gives a lot of news in very brief form — "Peg and I planning a trip to Finland and Norway next July. Expecting second grandchild soon. Fish in my back-yard l-acre lake have stopped biting—don't like worms anymore."

There are 30 sons of 1927 men in College this year.

Plans are in the making for a Father and Son weekend some time in the spring.

Recent visitors to Hanover, as shown by the records of the Inn, who couldn't manage to make their trips coincide with our big weekend, include Charlie and Barbara Bartlett, Josh and Jill Davis, Sykes and Helen Hardy, and Bob and Franchot Long.

Following is the list of those who helped swell 1927's total in the 1957 Alumni Fund. Again, the list is too short, and those of you who do not find your names included can easily correct this omission in future years. Let's all remember that the chance that someone gave us to get a Dartmouth education should be passed on by us to those who are coming along in future years.
