What better adjective to describe the spirit of the Class of 1952 than Fabulous! More than 40 classmates plus wives and dates braved threatening skies to join in '52's annual reunion at the Yale game. They were well rewarded with beer and conversation aplenty and gridiron thrills galore. A persistent rain joined with Eli gridders in trying to dampen '52 spirits, but both failed.
The one casualty of the Yale Bowl "dampness" was the set of notes I had attempted to gather on the '52 festivities. Two of the Big Green's fiercest backers at the game were Whitey Dunlap and Bob Medvecky. Whitey and Barbara now live in Stamford, Conn., with son Bill, three months old. Whitey's a pilot with TWA and you'll see him if you take the New York-St. Louis flight. Bob has a new position with Southern New England Telephone Company.
The above notes are the only ones decipherable, but I will try to list all the classmates at the game. Those I miss, please recall the rain falling during the playing of the National Anthem and forgive. Not mentioning wives or girl friends, the faithful on hand were:
Jack Crowell, Ellie Cate, Bob Lord, Dave Edson, John Rosenwald, Steve Mandel, Bob Ringstad, Dunlap, Medvecky, Cate, Benisch (from San Francisco), Dick Watt, George Andretta, Phil Chapell, Jay Stahl, Em White, Cris Wilson, Met Taylor, Ed . Finnerty, George Hibben, Frank Heinemann, Rog Malkin, Bob Jelley (his car held the beer), Charlie Clough, Jack McCrillis, Fred Hill, Tony Quimby, Nels Ehringer, Hugh Lefkowitz, Dek Davidson, Ken Roman, John Martino, George Littlehales, Norm Logan, Bill Fisher, Tank Creamer, Pete McSpadden, Bill Rooke, John Jack Hart (I think?), Bob Adams and Jack Barclay.
Can Anyone Top This? Al and Betty Riegelman have just had their fourth child, Sarah Elizabeth, on Oct. 21. Their first girl, Penney, came in 1953. Al's a sales representative for GE working out of Milwaukee. Ted and Sally Haskell have sent me news of their first born, Elizabeth Lee, born July 26. Ted's a clerical engineer and president of Robert Haskell Co. Inc. They live in Marblehead, Mass.
Wedding Bells sounded in Hanover for Bid Guild and Ruth Ineta Creighton of Lebanon, N. H., who were wed Sept. 14 in the Church of Christ at Dartmouth College. Bid, an honor graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, and his bride are living in Montpelier, Vt., where Bid is in the law department of the National Life Insurance Company. Vince Jones and Laurine Ellis were married in St. Helena, Calif., and honeymooned at Catalina Island and in the West Indies. Albie Collins and Margaret Blood were wed in Gloucester, Va., in September.
Ed and Margaret Reed took a wedding trip to Puerto Rico, Haiti and the Virgin Islands following their October ceremony in Dallas, Tex. Dr. Don Myers, now a civilian dentist in Rome, N. Y., and Rebecca Torrey walked down the aisle on Oct. 5. Rebecca's a Bennett Jr. College graduate. A clipping just received states that George Howard and Patricia Foley were to be wed on Aug. 31 in Albany, N. Y. I haven't heard officially, but I assume George and Miss Foley, an N.Y.U. graduate, are wed. George is in his junior year at Albany Medical School.
The engagement of Howie Carter to Rosalie DAndrea of Rockville Center, N. Y., and Maryraount College has been announced. Howie is assistant to the General Sales Director for Elizabeth Arden Cosmetics.
Sam and Yvonne Wells are in Baltimore, Md., where Sam is in commercial real estate for the Cannon Shoe Company. Phil and Judie Trowbridge are new New Jerseyites. Phil, a June '57 Tuck graduate, is now with the New York Telephone Company. They have one daughter, Elizabeth, born last February.
Dave Brew was scheduled to enter Stanford this fall to begin work toward a Ph.D. in geology. He's been with the U. S. Geological Survey since 1952. King Howe began work in June as a research chemist with the Polychemicals Department at DuPont in Delaware. Jack and Jo Shuman live in San Francisco where Jack is engaged in investment banking. They have one boy, a junior. Boston Insurance Company has' appointed Dick Pratt as a bond production underwriter for Southern New England. Bob Lord leaves around Jan. 1 with Martha and the children for Paris where he will study organ on a Reynolds Fellowship from Dartmouth.
Bill Mattox and bride Joan will return to U.S. West Coast from Army duty in Germany via Turkey and India by freighter. Dr. Bill Stafford is the resident physician in pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Michigan (Detroit). Dr. Howie and Sally Geist are now with the U.S. Air Force where Howie is a surgeon and captain. Al and Joan Cohen left the Army this year for New York City where Al is an attorney. They have one daughter, Laurie.
Jim and Ann Meredith also left the service this year, returning to Bethlehem, Pa., where Jim is in market analysis with Bethlehem Steel. Lyle Spalding is now a traveling auditor with G.E. At last report wife Lola and children David and Jane were still living in Schenectady, N. Y. Bob Prew, is now mail service supervisor with Hallmark Cards, Inc., Springfield, Mass. Steve Meterparel began as Assistant Advertising and Sales Promotion Manager for WBZ-TV, Boston, in May. In June Bob Ash started in the Quaker Oats Sales Training Program. He's interested in working with Quaker Oats in Latin America.
Gene and Judie Cesari are now at Clarkson Institute of Technology where Gene is an instructor. Quent and Sue Squires left the custody of the U.S. Navy in February for White Plains, and Quent ' returned to accounting tasks for Arthur Young and Company in the Big City. It's reported that '52's representative on the Hungarian border, Dick Roraback, is now with Church World Service in Beirut, Lebanon. He sure likes the hot spots. Jim and Mary Fraser, and son Kevin, should be in Europe about now for a year of business, investment banking and some graduate study. Al Acker is now a junior accountant for Price Waterhouse. TomDudley was admitted to the practice of law in Maine. He'll practice in Kittery, Me. BobFoley and Cornelius McMahon are teaching at Kimball Union Academy, down the Valley from Hanover. Bob's also doing some money raising for KUA.
Tad Stahl and another young architect have opened offices in Cambridge, Mass., and plan one in Danbury, Conn., soon. They are currently at work on houses in Maine and California. Pete McSpadden has passed along a letter from George S tor ok, who was graduated and commissioned at West Point in 1954. George and his wife Pat reported they were leaving Army service for civilian status.
Joe Novak and Dick Lathrop bumped into each other at Travis Air Force Base. Dick was hitching a ride to Hawaii. Joe, with the Navy at Newport, filled in all the details on Ike's recent visit there.
Dave Dugan was on hand for the Yale game, but he, lucky guy, was working in the comfortable press box as announcer for CBS's Ivy League Game of the Week along with some Harvard chap.
We're still short of a record in our first dues collection attempt, so if you haven't sent your $5 to Ed Finnerty, do it today and don't forget to pass along the latest news, including new addresses, to me at the soonest.
