The Dartmouth Club of Hartford held their Spring Dinner Meeting on March 29 this year in the Avery Court of the Wadsworth Atheneum to present Paul Sample '21, Dartmouth's Artist-in-Residence, to almost 200 club members and wives. With the works of such masters as Gainesborough, Degas, and Van Gogh overseeing the, servings of lobster thermidor and creamed chicken, artist Sample was seated with Hap Bush '44, chairman of the meeting, Sax Zieman '35, president of the club and several members of his class of 1921.

After dinner, Paul Sample lectured while giving a painting demonstration in oil. His enthusiastic audience was treated to the evolution of one of the artist's favorite themes - a wintry landscape of the Connecticut River and mountains nearby Hanover.

The Hartford Club's 1956-1957 Fall-Winter program has enjoyed a full range of activities to keep their members in close touch with Hanover. On October 31, Bob Blackman spoke to a packed house in the Bond Hotel at the annual Dartmouth-Yale game dinner, and on November 30, the Dartmouth College Glee Club gave their bi-annual concert to a completely sold out auditorium in the Louise Duffy School of West Hartford.

Plans are now in the making for the Annual June Outing to be held at the Avon Old Farms School.
