OCTOBER 1958

Two new appointments and a change in position were announced for the Dartmouth administrative staff during the summer. David H. Edson '52, who was Assistant to the Dean for two years, 1955-1957, and was Academic Counselor this past year, has been named Assistant Comptroller of the College. Robert N. Searles '42, recently with the Educational Relations Department of the General Electric Company in Schenectady, has become Associate in the Development Office, in connection with the Capital Gifts Campaign; and Alfred F. Bremble Jr. '56 of Plainfield, N. J., has been named Assistant to the Secretary of the College, succeeding Robert L. Allen '45, who has resigned to engage in industrial public relations work.

Mr. Edson took his M.A. at Colgate, where he was a student counselor before becoming assistant to the director of admissions at Hobart College for 1954-55, the year before he came to Dartmouth.

Mr. Searles, former varsity skier, served in the Air Force in World War II, went to Norwich University in 1946 as ski coach and physical education instructor, and held the same post at the University of Vermont from 1948 to 1953, when he became assistant director of admissions. In 1955 he joined General Electric as educational specialist, with duties connected with the company's program of educational support. At present he is with the Boston office of the Dartmouth Capital Gifts Campaign.

Mr. Bremble, an NROTC graduate and English major, served as ensign, attached to the Office of Naval Intelligence in Washington, after graduating in 1956. He was senior class secretary, served on the Undergraduate Council and Interdormitory Council, and was active in football, rugby and the Outing Club.
