1958DARTMOUTHPARENTSCOMMITTEEREPORT

Closely associated with the annual Dartmouth Alumni Fund Campaign is the annual Dartmouth Parents Campaign which seeks gifts from non-alumni parents for the Alumni Fund. In 1958 this effort, as was the case with the Alumni Fund, was coordinated with Dartmouth's Capital Gifts Campaign.

The results, again, were highly gratifying, with final totals showing that 541 parents made gifts totaling $15,283 directly to the Parents Campaign while, during the same period last spring, 300 parents were making pledges and gifts amounting to over $300,000 to the Capital Fund.

Each year an increasingly large number of parents of both undergraduates and graduates are becoming active workers and generous givers in Dartmouth's cause. By joining with the alumni in such support these parents become in every sense members of the Dartmouth family. And much of the future strength and new records of the Dartmouth Alumni Fund will come about through active participation in the Fund by all Dartmouth parents.

PATRICK MURPHY MALIN Chairman, 1958 Dartmouth Parents Committee

This special four-page report on the 1958 Dartmouth Alumni Fund replaces the usual eight-page insert which in recent years has appeared in the December issue of the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE. The report is of a different nature as the 1958 Alumni Fund Campaign differed in some respects from all previous campaigns because of the coordination of the 1958 Alumni Fund Campaign with the Capital Gifts effort. The usual class-by-class listings of contributors to the Alumni Fund are omitted this year. The listings are not complete at this time because any alummus who makes a pledge or gift to the Capital Gifts Campaign will automatically receive Alumni Fund credit for 1958, 1959 and for any subsequent years in which pledge payments are being made.
