ALUMNI FUND PLANS FOR 1959
DECEMBER 1958 Donald F. Sawyer '21,

CHAIRMAN 1959 -

The results reported by Bill Morton are a fine tribute to all members of the Dartmouth family. As in years past, the Alumni Fund Committee voted to allocate the proceeds from our 1958 Campaign to assist Dartmouth in meeting current operating expenses for the 1957-58 year. Additional funds, also for current operating expenses, have come from unrestricted gifts to the Capital Gifts Campaign because of the fact that the 1958 Alumni Fund proceeds were understandably less than in recent years.

Looking ahead to 1959, we recognize that the larger interest of Dartmouth College can best be served by a successful completion of the Capital Gifts Campaign. Thus, for the first time since its inception 45 years ago, the Alumni Fund will not conduct a formal campaign this coming spring.

However, the Alumni Fund Committee wants every Dartmouth alumnus to know that the Alumni Fund will always be open for voluntary contributions. Also, we want to assure all alumni that our splendid Class Agents organization is being held intact through 1959 and during this period will be providing important assistance, in every possible way, to the Capital Gifts effort.

In the spring of 1960 the 46th annual Dartmouth Alumni Fund will resume its traditional role in Dartmouth affairs. If the results achieved by our 1958 Alumni Fund Campaign are any criterion, we can look forward with great confidence to shattering all previous Fund records!
