FEBRUARY and early March will find several members of the faculty, administrative staff and coaching staff on the road to take part in sixteen different alumni gatherings in the East, South and Middle West.
President Dickey and Director of Athletics Robert A. Rolfe '31 will speak at a Chicago alumni dinner at the University Club on February 7. This evening event will follow an afternoon Hanover Holiday talk by John H. Wolfenden, Professor of Chemistry, on the subject, "Staying Alive With Science."
President Dickey, Mr. Rolfe, and Football Coach Robert L. Blackman will be speakers at the annual Boston alumni dinner at the Hotel Statler, February 13, beginning at 6:30. Joe Palermo '58, last fall's football captain, and Al Krutsch '59, captain-elect, will be among the guests from the College.
Coach Blackman will make five other alumni appearances during the coming months. His schedule: February 16, Charlotte, N. C.; February 22, Chattanooga, Tenn.; February 23, Atlanta; March 1 (luncheon), Orlando-Winter Park, Fla.; March 1 (dinner), Jacksonville, Fla.
Sidney C. Hayward '26, Secretary of the College, will also be in the Southeast, speaking to the Dartmouth Club of Virginia in Richmond on February 24, and to alumni groups in St. Petersburg, Fla., on March 1 (luncheon) and in Sarasota, Fla., on March 1 (dinner).
Herbert F. West '22, Professor of Comparative Literature, will be guest speaker at a dinner meeting of the Dartmouth Club of Philadelphia, at the Merion Cricket Club, on February 19.
Arthur H. Kiendl Jr. '44, Associate Dean of the College, will visit five alumni clubs in early March; at two of these meetings he will team up with Herbert R. Sensenig '28, Professor of German and Academic Counselor, to present a Hanover Holiday-type program. These two special programs will be held at Minneapolis on March 11 and at Milwaukee on March 12. Dean Kiendl's earlier speaking engagements will be at Kansas City, Mo., on March 5; Omaha on March 6; and Des Moines on March 7.
