A Dartmouth movie (narrated in Japanese by Chick Igaya '57) climaxed an evening of sociability for 23 alumni, their families, and guests. We gathered in force at the Sankeido Cocktail Lounge, and whetted our appetites on the usual mixtures. After overpowering this small establishment, we moved on to the nearby Zakuro Restaurant. Here everyone became lost in the delights of family-style "mizutaki" (raw beef strips and Japanese vegetables boiled in a steaming broth, and dipped in pungent sauce).

First-timers were Maj. Rog Haley '41, stationed at Tachikawa, and Bob McCabe '51, who just joined the local "Stars and Stripes" staff after working on the European edition of the same journal. On their way around the world, Harry Litzenberger '32, his wife, and guest blew in after a typhoon had demasted the yacht on which they were traveling.

Capt. Ray Alexanian '52 was busy snapping pictures; and Lt. Jim Sherman '55 was even busier, passing around his "I won it as a door prize" bottle of Scotch. Attending with their wives were Capt. Dick Jachens '41, JohnBernheim '45, Pfc. Fred Alpert '54, and Lt. jg. Bob Levine '54. Rounding out the group were Sid Cardozo '38, Takanaga Mitsui '15, Takanobu Mitsui '43, Yoji Hirota '28, and Eifu Yamada '53.

The party moved after dinner to the Bernheims' home where a little nostalgia was evident as the snowy scenes of the USIS Dartmouth fdm were viewed.
