A snowball fight? On March 28? In Tokyo? Sounds improbable, but this is how we all ended a fun-filled evening hosted by Lt. Col. Phil and Phyllis Hallam '41 at their Washington Heights home. The weatherman's prediction of this highly unseasonable weather didn't stop a few newcomers from making the trip. Lt. Bill Beagle '56, with his wife Norma, Ford'ed in from Fuchu. Lt. jg. Bob Gile '56 took a night off from being "gun boss" on the Frank E. Evans (DD 754) in order to test the renowned Tokyo martini.

Capt. Dick Jachens '41, Maj. Clayt Gray '41, with their wives, were the Tokyoites who ventured out for the party. From Zama came Capt. Ray Alexinian '52, from Tachikawa Mai. Rog Haley '41 and Lt. Jim Sherman '55, from Kamakura Yoji Hirota '28, while up from Yokosuka came Lt. jg. Bob Levine '54.

Squid, eel, ginko nuts!!! The month before had seen our group gather at the Tenichi Restaurant where these delicacies among others, were the featured attraction. Famous for their tempura'd (dipped in batter and lightly fried) dishes, the Tenichi lived up to its reputation as an epicurean eatery. We had new faces with us that month too, as Lt. Sy and Barb Grolnick '52 and Lt. Gerry Block '51, both stationed at the Yokosuka Naval Hospital, journeyed north to Tokyo. In addition to many of the alumni mentioned above, our February meeting was attended by Sid Cardozo '38, Takanaga Mitsui '15 with his son Osamu, and draftee ("I gambled and lost") Pfc. Fred and Lynn AlPert '54.

Future plans call for a weekend of swimming and golf at the world famous Kawana Hotel in May, and a fireworks viewing and/or beer drinking boat trip in July on the Sumida River.
