Club Officers Meet

SOME seventy presidents, secretaries and enrollment chairmen from 45 Dartmouth alumni clubs were guests of the College at the annual fall meeting of the Dartmouth Club Officers Association, November 12 to 14. This was a record attendance by club officers, and with 54 wives also present, the weekend pushed closer to the level of attendance that marks the similar gathering of Dartmouth class officers each spring.

Since the weekend was held at the time of Fall Houseparties and the Dartmouth-Cornell football game, the Woodstock Inn was used as headquarters for the club officers and their wives. The annual dinner was held there Thursday evening, but the working sessions on Friday and Saturday were held in the Sanborn House library. E. Morton Jennings '28 of Boston, president of the Association, presided at the dinner and the Hanover meetings.

Dean Thaddeus Seymour was the principal speaker at the opening dinner. On that occasion awards for the year were presented to John L. Greisberger '46 of Rochester, N. Y., as the Club Secretary of the Year, and to Culver A. Modisette '50 of Hartford, Conn., as the Club President of the Year.

Among the College officers who spoke at the meetings in Hanover were President Dickey, "The College"; Richard W. Olmsted '32, business manager of the College, "Building Plans"; Edward T. Chamberlain '36, director of admissions, "Enrollment and the Class of 1963"; and George H. Colton '35, director of development, "The Campaign Story."

Club officers and their wives had a Ski Hut coffee hour with Director of Athletics Robert A. Rolfe '31 and five head coaches, and an informal visit with the Stefanssons in Baker Library. They also had their choice of attending Friday afternoon classes in speech, botany and art. The Players' production of The Alchemist, the Glee Club concert, and the football game rounded out a full three-day program.

At Saturday morning's final business session the following officers of the Dartmouth Club Officers Association were elected for the coming year: President, Stanley P. Miner '22, Dartmouth Club of Bergen County, N. J.; Vice President, Barry Sullivan '36, Dartmouth Club of Washington, D. C.; Secretary, J. Michael McGean '49, assistant secretary of the College; Executive Committee Members, William C. Cusack '27, Dartmouth Alumni Association of Boston, and Russell C. Dilks '51, Dartmouth Alumni Association of Philadelphia.
