Eric Kelly is beginning life all over again out in Youngstown, Ariz. He is now the city editor of the Youngstown Record, of which the editor, his boss, is Katharine Kelly. The following is from his pen:

Hanover Nostalgia

"Do you remember the days when we took long walks on all the highways and byways around Hanover? Before the lush days of the automobile one might meet students in springtime in the Norwich Hills, along the railroad track to the June, up north toward Lyme or over by the Ledyard Rocks. Dartmouth men of that period must suffer a touch of nostalgia when spring comes. This was true back in 1820 as shown by the following.

The Graduates' Farewell

Dark rolling Connecticut, oft I remember The days and the years that I spent on thy shores.

And the tribute of tear-drops unconsciously render When thinking these days shall be present no more.

Once sweet to my soul as the fragrance of morning Once Joyous as Philomel's music at even, Once bright as the dew-drop the tulip adorning They are gone like a meteor sunk into Heaven.

"This poem was read at Commencement in 1820 and in the audience were Webster, who Was celebrating the winning of the Dartmouth College Case, and Rufus Choate, a senior, who delivered an oration on The Fine Arts as Affecting Republican Character."

Misch Ailing passed away on Sunday, February 8, 1959 in Lowell, Mass. The Class sends its sincere sympathy to Helen.

Ray Cutting is back in his native state of Vermont. His address is Putnam-Rest, c/o Mrs. Marion Ruitberg, Star Route, Montpelier.

My sincere thanks are hereby extended to Art Chapin for taking on my job last month and for doing it so much better than I could have.

I hope all of you are keeping in mind the Dartmouth Capital Gifts Campaign. Every 1906 man should have a part in this even though it is a small one. We expect each and every one to do his bit.
