Gentlemen of the Class, here are my April bits and pieces as prepared in March - and as windy as this night of their literary creation. My information sources, more multifarious than multiple, have within the past month reported several Class items. Ed Langenbach is contesting for the office of Selectman in his home bailiwick of Weston, Mass. With a Harvard Law degree, a general law practice and a fine record of community-supported interests in the Weston-Wellesley area his campaign certainly deserves success. Ed and his wife Ann have three sons, the oldest a high school junior. The New York Mirror featured a story, with portrait, of Joe Choate, now manager of the National Motor Boat Show which exhibited earlier this year, as every year, at the New York Coliseum. Joe left the Guaranty Trust Company at the start of World War II to join the Coast Guard, which turned out to be the death of a banker but the birth of a sailor. I suggest here and now that come our 30th Reunion we include a seamen's corner as the focal point for our several salty classmates of World War II exposure or since.

Dr. Ed Reichert, professor and head of the Education Department and director of the evening program at Lake Forest College, was guest speaker at a recent meeting of the Lake Bluff Education Association. His talk covered "3-R's Today." Ed also acquired degrees from the universities of Wisconsin and Minnesota before launching on a professional teaching career. Continuing in the educational vein, Professor Line Page and his wife and family are now resident in Hanover where Line is visiting professor of Geology at the College. By happy circumstance his son Norman is in the class of '61. The great Macy's New York division recently installed a million dollar electronic computer system, designed by National Cash Register. NCR's president Bob Oelman was prominently pictured in the ribbon cutting ceremony. Thanks to Bob, all of you Greater Manhattan tycoons will be getting your invoices before you get home with your packages.

Through his brother John word has been received of the death of Ted Danforth. Ted died in Stamford, Conn., on January 3 after a prolonged illness.

A report from Bill Galley, now anchored in Hinsdale, Ill., reveals that he is in the food business in the Chicago area as vice president of Eversweet Corp., has recently been busy with the College's Capital Fund Drive and is still active in the U. S. Army Reserve with the rank of lieutenant colonel. Bill's son john is in the class of '62 and his daughter Jane a prep school sophomore. Bill comments that he is anticipating our 30th Reunion. Let me remind all of you that the dates of our mellow 30th are June 17 to 19 (Friday to Sunday), 1960 — a year from this coming Tune.

The Boston Herald featured a February full-spread treatment on the wave of mergers within the New England electronics industry. Prominent in the review was the merger of a West Coast firm with Bomac Laboratories of Beverly, Mass. Bomac's president is Hank McCarthy who with his partner has developed a blue ribbon business in the field of electronics. While I remember Hank best as a fellow member of the College band, it should also be recalled that he belonged to the Radio Club and that he majored in Physics. Both of these latter activities have been most effectively parlayed in the business world. At a recent luncheon meeting of the Boston North Shore Dartmouth Club, Hank was the principal speaker.

To wind this one up, let's shift from individuals to the Class as a whole and underscore the tremendous job represented by our Class Book which is to be in our hands in April. This monumental effort is truly the personal achievement of Class president Dick Holbrook. A recent mailing from treasurer Pete Evans alerted all of you to the impending delivery date. In addition to responding adequately to Pete's pinch, how about a note of thanks to editor and generous subsidizer Dick (David's Hill Road, Bedford, N. Y.)!
