At the annual meeting of the Dartmouth
December 1960

At the annual meeting of the Dartmouth Club Officers Association last month, Fred Stockwell '43, head of the Mystic Valley Dartmouth Club, Winchester, Mass., was honored as Club President of the Year. The following citation was read by J. Michael McGean '49, Associate Secretary of the College:

Fred, you have been preparing yourself for this honor a long, long time. We can make our point by starting in your high school where in addition to varsity football and track you played in the band, ran the student council, worked on the yearbook, served as vice-president of your class and as marshal at graduation. May we skip oyer what a big man you were in College for a quick look at the solid services you have performed in your community and in behalf of Dartmouth since graduation.

You are a former Chairman of United Fund, Red Feather, and Community Fund Campaigns; a former president of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce; a former director of the Boston YMCA; and former president of a large manufacturing concern. Today, you serve as a member of the Winchester Town Meeting, the Winchester Finance Committee and Winchester Industrial Development Committee. You are a member of the Society of Industrial Realtors, a director of the Northern Industrial Chemical Co., a trustee of the Charlestown and Suffolk-Franklin Savings Banks, and vice-president of the R. M. Bradley & Co. All these activities probably seem quite enough to Marge and your four children, but Dartmouth has also called on your services, first as Secretary of your class and then as Secretary of the Boston Alumni Association.

With your background of honors and accomplishments, Fred, we hardly need mention that you are presently at work for Dartmouth as President of the Mystic Valley Club. But we would mention our wish that this award as Club President of the Year might also cover all your volunteer activities, Dartmouth and otherwise. You have strengthened the College, not only as a class and club officer, but as an exemplary citizen in your community.
