Taking advantage of Sid Hayward's '26 visit to London, a group of twenty Dartmouth men residing in Jolly Old England met at the Savoy Hotel on August 15 for cocktails and lunch.
Hosts for the occasion were Dick Moyse '24 and Bob Breyfogle '26. Most of us were surprised to realize that such a goodly number of men from the college were present in England, and the occasion enabled us to feel a bit closer to Hanover and those days in the White Hills of New Hampshire. Those present included: Al Bisson '42, Stew Brown '34, Elmer Browne '40, Willard Connely '11, Norm Crabtree '33, Dick Dunham '42, Ronald Egan '45, Jerome Foeller '55, Charley Goldsmith '29, Dick Hollingworth '52, Bill Lyons '37, Ed Miller '40, Jim Pereire '56, Bob Perkins '55, Jim Petrie Jr. '33, Peter Trinkle '57 (Tuck), Ray Wattles Jr. '42 and yours truly, Rem Drury '48.
During cocktails a good many stories of life at Dartmouth were of course exchanged, and in a short after-dinner talk Sid gave us some idea of the changes taking place in Hanover, as well as reassurance that these changes would not alter the essential character of Dartmouth. The meeting was so well received by those present that it was decided the Dartmouth Group in and around London should get together again before too many moons have passed. Bob Breyfogle '26, with the help of several others, has volunteered to lift some of the burden of organization and arrangements from the able shoulders of Dick Moyse '24, who has for so long kept the Dartmouth Group together in London. Those of us Big Green adherents in this part of the world feel that the recent arrival in London of George Scott '25 will be of no small help in this regard, and we are looking forward to the next visitors from Hanover to this side of the water.
