The accolade of Dartmouth Club Secretary of the Year went to Dick Mac Donald '44 of the Bridgeport, Conn., club at the annual meeting of the Club Officers Association in Hanover last month. Following is the citation read on that occasion:
Alumni in the Bridgeport, Connecticut, area have established a very nice tradition in recent years. They consistently nominate and unanimously elect you, Dick, as Secretary of their Club. We understand that crossing party lines is commonplace among the voters when you are up for election, that independents just aren't independent, and that the pollsters have never found a trend, drift, or sentiment in any other direction but yours. 100% Mac Donald they call you in Bridgeport, and we say the same in Hanover, too.
You tend to your business at keeping 100% track of all Dartmouth men in your club, and you never fail to bring the College up to date on new arrivals, departures, and all the other details a good secretary must report. You always see that publicity is handled effectively, and you come up with new ideas and programs to keep your entire membership interested in club activities.
As we name you Club Secretary of the Year, may we add one prediction for. the future, that if ever a Dartmouth Club achieves 100% attendance at a meeting, Bridgeport and you will do it.
