First of all, your secretary will have to regale you, briefly, however, with a fine vacation in Florida, the first for him, ever (Officers Training School in Miami Beach in August-September, 1942, was not a vacation). First stop, after several years of urging, was at the most hospitable Norm and Elisabeth Sterling's lovely home at Ponte Vedra Beach, where the weather was wonderful and so was everything else, and what a start for a vacation. There, Harry and Lil Colwell called on their way further south, so your secretary caught up with them at Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, where the sunshine and swimming were superb.

During our stay there, we called oh Larry and Mary McCutcheon at PompanO Beach, and Alex Henderson at Hillsborough Beach, and our welcome could not have been more cordial. Alex is the mayor of the locality and a big factor in local affairs. He almost promised to come to Woodstock-Hanover on September 30, and we'll hope both he and Larry show up. Among other '19ers calling on the above mentioned Sterlings were Jim and Mary Davis, Guy and Muriel Cogswell and Rock and Alice Earle Hayes.

After a trip to the Florida Keys, your traveler wound up near Venice on Casey Key, not far from Jack and Sylvia Taylor '22, and other Connecticut friends, where another good time was had. Spent most of a day with Fred Daley, our hard-working Class Agent (get in the dough for the Alumni Fund now), and saw his Warm Mineral Springs Hotel and development a few miles south of Venice. Saw Paul and Adelaide Clements at their Country Store on Siesta Key near Sarasota and talked to Bunny and Madelaine Collins. After all that, back to Ponte Vedra for a few days and then to New Rochelle, just missing the Hayes by a few days.

How could your Secretary forget our nice visit with Dick and Edna Werfelman at Fort Myer; they promised to be on hand September 30.

A recent visit to Hanover caught up with Hester and Jack McCrillis, Bob Lewis and Anne, and Oscar and Nan Lewis as well as Spider Martin, John Chipman, Bob Paisley, Bob Proctor, Guy Cogswell, Fat Jackson, Cotty Larmon, Jim Davis and Dan Featherston.

An amusing letter from Lou Stone was waiting on my return:

Since the postman cannot find you to deliver those Old Age Benefit checks, obviously you easily ditched me and that untarnished, innocent classmate of ours yclept Raible. Your office said "he evaporated quickly in the direction of Florida." This speed leads me to inquire, did you get fresh with one of those young blonde secretaries???? Seriously, I hope you are well, and that you are having much fun and sun, and get that neck straightened out. Greif was here a week, and we two Buster Brown boys behaved so well that they want us to model for a Boy Scout achievement award. He has a big boat" in Florida waters and is due to sail around the Bahamas for a while. If you want Baptist missionary surroundings, just get in touch with him near Miami. He has a captain etc., and the etc. sounds good. Jean has been visiting Africa and the Iron Curtain countries since February 8, and I have been having fun with my razor, which appears off the ground. Come back soon and let us have a big get-together, 1919 needs its rudder, or we will flounder.

Jim Wilson comes through with a report:

Just arrived home from several weeks vacation at Delray Beach and on top of the mail was the Happy Birthday card from the Class of '19. These cards always pep you up for another year's travel. Actually I look forward to these cards as it means a reunion is closer ..in the fall. Polly and I hope to be at the September 30 reunion at Woodstock to make up for a couple of "misses." We enjoyed four weeks of sunshine and pleasant weather during March, while the north was suffering from snow, cold, and sleet. Had a telephone call this morning from K. B. Johnson, and he and June will stop in Salem- Saturday morning for a weekend visit. Several weeks ago had a pleasant evening. at the Youngstown Club with Jane Cody. Thanks again, George, for the greeting and look forward to our fall reunion.

Bill Warner, vice-president of In-Tag of Chicago, likewise reports on a Florida trip (too bad all of us don't know where all the 19ers are going to be on their Florida vacations): "Thanks very much for the birthday greeting. Having just relaxed in January and February in Fort Lauderdale, I almost turned around to return there for more relaxing. It is difficult to realize that the years are galloping by so swiftly. Each year I promise myself to return to Hanover for a reunion, but somehow something always interferes. Again, many thanks."

A practically life-size picture of Tom Bresnahan, advertising director of McCall's, appeared in one of the trade papers advocating Orion in Carpets, with McCall's "Use-Tested Tag." The Larry Eastmans are going on an extended European trip through France, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, to be gone at least six weeks.

Ken Huntington received a fine write-up in the local paper a short time ago:

(Joyce) Knights of Norwich, Vt. Mr. and Mrs. Huntington live at 103 Avimore Drive, New Rochelle.

It is not too early to start making your plans for the class party at Woodstock-Hanover September go-October 2. Please make your reservation at the Woodstock Inn as early as possible. Program same as in previous years - cocktails and dinner at Woodstock Friday, luncheon at the Hanover Inn Saturday starting at 11:30 A.M., the game with Pennsylvania, and then back to Woodstock for dinner. If you are coming to the luncheon only, please advise your secretary, as we have to give the Hanover Inn some idea of how many will be on hand. And now, a good and healthy summer to all of you and keep the cards and letters coming. See you September 30.

Secretary, 1273 North Avenue New Rochelle, N. Y.

Class Agent, Madison Ave., Shelton, Conn.
