Some 1919 news from Florida - Stu Russell was here for a few days just in time to take in Rock and Alice Earl Hayes' 45th wedding anniversary party held in the beautiful Cascades restaurant in Boca Raton. Preceding the gala affair were cocktails with Randolf '55 and Betty Hayes in Boca, where Ranny is now located with IBM. Jock and Edna Murray rounded out, with the Rands, the representatives from '19, to help the Hayeses celebrate. Don Lovejoy came to 152 Gleason to see Stu and Jock — they hadn't seen each other in many years.
A trip to Hialeah with the Hayeses was a lot of fun - a fine day and a beautiful track and a few winners which didn't quite pay expenses.
Guy and Muriel Cogswell are in Lauderdale where Guy is recovering from a gall bladder operation and doing well. Harrietand Lou Munro are expected in Boca soon which indicates that Mun is making a good recovery from his illness. Si and GladysStein are in Boca but we haven't caught up with them yet - they are headed for Hanover in June.
The New York group have been very active - attending a luncheon at the Dartmouth Club were Nick Sandoe, Ed Fiske, Harry Colwell, Teto Webster, Win Batchelder, Wentz Ruml, Paul Clark, San Treat, Bri Greeley, Bill Smith, and Mose Robinson. A surprise and welcome visitor from Greensburg, Pa., was John Kunkle, who flew in especially to see his classmates. Chet and Virginia Demond entertained a group of '19ers for dinner in New York, which included the Sam Jenkinses who had not been around in some time. Harry and Lil Colwell also entertained before a Glee Club concert in Scarsdale for a group of the class which included the Sandoes, Robinsons, Bill McMahon, the Bresnahans, Batchelders, Greeleys, and Demonds - maybe more. All of which indicates that 1919 is a great "get-to-gether" class in the winter as well as in the fall. This bodes well for a large attendance in June when we hope to set some new records. Send in your check to Max Norton right away.
K B Johnson, of Sonoma, Calif., checks in with a picture of Western Airlines directors which includes Ax. Warden and also, "How old am I? How old are you? The teeth I have are none of my own but I do have all my hair. My weight is within four pounds of my football weight of 1916. When Cav cut the squad I was always standing behind Casey Bevan so that Cav never saw me! Consequently, his teams had depth, way down to me!!"
At this writing (early March) Ed and Bea Martin just arrived at the Breakers in Palm Beach for a month's stay after trying out the west coast (the Bellaire Biltmore) in February, and al '19ers in the area are Looking forward to seeing them.
February, and all '19ers in the area are looking forward to seeing them. April is the start of the 1969 Alumni Fund, as all of you well know, so how about making things easy for Fred Daley and his assistant agents by sending in a generous gift to the College EARLY this time and help put 1919 over the top before we convene in Hanover for the 50th.
