The first of the Ivy League pre-season football predictions was recorded in late April by the sports information directors of the eight Ivy institutions. The publicists voted Harvard first, Yale and Cornell in a tie for second, and Pennsylvania fourth. The Ivy League coaches, meeting at the same time, expressed themselves in favor of the unlimited substitution rule and also favored putting the goal posts back on the goal line.

The 58th annual Intercollegiate Rowing Association Regatta will be held on June 18 at Onondaga Lake near Syracuse, N. Y. Dartmouth will be one of a number of competing institutions in the IRA with entries expected from Cornell, Princeton, Stanford, Navy, Syracuse, Washington, Wisconsin, M.I.T., Columbia and other of the nation's leading crews. Wisconsin is the defending champion. Tickets may be purchased through the Dartmouth College Athletic Council or by writing the Syracuse Regatta Association at Syracuse University, Syracuse, N. Y. Reunion tents are again available and it is expected that Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia and other Eastern colleges will have such reunion tents at the Regatta.

Jim Francis '57, former Dartmouth basketball star, has just completed a banner season on the Goodyear Wingfoot basketball team under Coach Hank Vaughn. The 6'9" former Dartmouth center, voted the most valuable player on his team, was instrumental in leading the Wingfoots to the runner-up spot in the National Amateur Athletic Union tournament and also helped give them the best National Industrial League showing at the recent Olympic trials. This past winter Francis led all Wing scorers and was eighth in league scoring with a 20-pointper-game average.

The Dartmouth freshman rifle team, coached by Marine Sgt. John E. Warner, has recently completed its most successful season with a record of nine wins and one loss and an eighth-place showing in the national intercollegiate" tournament. The lone defeat came at the hands of the Air Force Academy by a narrow four-point margin. John R. Fischer was high scorer for the season.

Four-event ace Art Bookstrom and alpine specialist Jim DeLong have been elected co-captains of the Dartmouth varsity ski team for next year. Bookstrom is from Denver, Colo., while DeLong hails from Old Forge, N. Y. Bookstrom was cocaptain of the ski team this past winter.

Dartmouth athletes were honored recently in the traditional "Wet Down" ceremonies held on campus in early May. Varsity football captain and quarterback Bill Gundy received the Barrett Cup as Dartmouth's outstanding senior. Hockey goalie Tom Wahman received the Dartmouth Cup as the outstanding senior athlete, and halfback Jake Crouthamel was awarded the Watson Trophy as the outstanding athlete of the year. The Archibald Prize for scholarship and athletic ability went to Dartmouth basketball and baseball star, Chuck Kaufman, and Ryan Ostebo received the Mulhern Trophy as the most improved hockey player. The Alumni Lacrosse Award went to Alan Rozycki, the Clark Soccer Trophy to Mitch Engle, the Levi Trophy for rifle marksmanship to George Rogers, the Leisching Rugby Trophy to Dennis Goodman, the Seymour Rowing Cup to Charlie Lund, and the Wrestling Cup to Fred Graybeal. Freshman ski captain James Page was awarded the Donald C. Cook Award as the outstanding freshman four-event skier.
