Golf Coach Tom Keane (pictured above with two of his former golf captains, Bill Clark '41 and Dick Heneage '3B) was honored July 22 at a testimonial dinner given at the Dartmouth Outing Club House. The dean of the Dartmouth coaching staff in point of service, he is now entering his 40th year as coach and as golf professional at the Hanover Country Club.

Over 140 of Tom's friends gathered to pay tribute to the man who in April 1922 came to Hanover to spend a "few years." During those 39 years his teams have put together one of the finest intercollegiate records in the East. According to the files of the DCAC, this record now stands at 257 wins, 144 losses, and three ties.

A native of Arlington, Mass., Tom received his first taste of golf at the age of 12 as a caddy at the Winchester (Mass.) Country Club. He later became assistant pro at Winchester, but in 1920 decided to try his luck in northern New England. In that year he became the professional at the Windsor (Vt.) Country Club. Two years later he arrived in Hanover where he has been ever since.

Tom and his wife Ethel can proudly boast of three sons, three daughters, and eighteen grandchildren. His three sons are all prominent New Hampshire golfers, and son Peter assists him at the Hanover Country Club.

Among those who attended the testimonial dinner were Bill Clark '41, captain of the 1941 team which captured the Eastern Intercollegiate championship, and Dick Heneage '38, whose 1938 team completed a 6-2 record.

A highlight of the dinner was the presentation to Tom and his wife of a check for $ 1,000 as a gift from Hanover Country Club members and from Dartmouth team members who have played under him since 1922.
