Our alumni activities this month were superficially minimal, but, like an iceberg, the bulk of interest currently lies, beneath the surface. The Glee Club concert is about six weeks away and Bill Berge '45 has already appointed his committee heads and set in motion the numerous but essential machineries that all contribute to a successful and artistic venture. Be sure to get a congenial group together before the concert, have a potluck supper or lobster bake, and then each and all head for an evening of melodious and nostalgic pleasure. If you can provide a bed for one or two glee clubbers, call Bill; such facilities are needed. Save your kopeks for the big night - Monday, March 20.
Luncheon last Friday was enhanced by the genial and scholarly presence of Mr. Charles Froelicher, energetic Headmaster of Colorado Academy, an up-and-coming preparatory school for boys on the outskirts of burgeoning Denver. Mr. Froelicher discussed informally the implications of federal aid to education, at every level and in private, public, and Catholic schools. Do not ask to know for whom the bell of government educational assistance tolls; apparently it tolls for all, and has been for some time. By means of the one-twelfth system, equipment and building connivances, selected scholarships, and simple things like reinforcements of school milk programs; Uncle Samuel goes to class and sits with all pupils in one way or another.
There are advantages and disadvantages and our speaker discussed these over a delicious noon-day meal crawling with cholesterol.
Not much snow hereabouts. What kind of a base do you put on a tennis racket?
