The following five men have agreed to serve on the nominating committee at the time of our reunion in June. Bob Scott, chairman, Slatz Baxter, Bill Birtwell, LarryNourse and Errol Thompson. It will be the duty of these men to "present a slate of thirteen members of the Class as nominees for membership on the Class Executive Committee." The committee members will welcome suggestions from any member of the Class. The permanent addresses of these men are given in the directory which formed part of. the January issue of the SENTRY. Bob Scott, however, will be in Florida until about May 1, and until then can be addressed at 2732 N.E. 15th St., Ft. Lauderdale.

As if running our reunion in June was not enough, Bill Sewall has taken on new and added responsibilities. He is to be a contributing columnist to "Modern Tire Dealer," beginning with the March issue of the publication. Having, prior to his retirement a bit over a year ago, spent 28 years with B. F. Goodrich in the development of TBA (Tires, Batteries and Accessories) sales to and through petroleum company dealers and distributors, Bill should be a natural for the work he is undertaking, and we wish him well.

For 29 years Meredith Brill has been connected with Alpha Omega Alpha, Honor Medical Society, and currently is busy at the Society's central office at Slaterville Springs, N. Y. He is Assistant General Secretary-Treasurer and also Managing Editor of The Pharos, official publication of the Society. Though he has reached the normal age for retirement, the Society's directors have voted to continue Meredith in office for another five years. He also is a member of the National Council, Boy Scouts of America, and is a member of the board of directors of the Tompkins County (N. Y.) United Fund of which he was a charter member.

Ralph Sanborn, chairman of the State (N. H.) Historical Commission, had the privilege of representing Gov. Wesley Powell and giving the address at New Hampshire Day services at the Washington Memorial Chapel in Valley Forge, Penna., on Sunday afternoon, February 26. Ralph is the governor of the New Hampshire Society of Colonial Wars and a member of the New Hampshire Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, the national organizations which are the sponsors of this famous shrine. As a side light on Ralph's trip to Valley Forge, let me add that he made it by train, the first time in five years that he had used this means of transportation.

Fred Hager was side-lined for a good part of last year by two coronary attacks. Apparently he is back at work because on the questionnaire he returned he stated that he is working for "Uncle Sam and my family orthodontist."

On February 1 five 17'ers attended an Alumni Luncheon at the Eagle Hotel in Concord, N. H. Present were Percy Howland, Perne Hutchinson, Sam MacKillop, Ralph Sanborn and Howard Steele.

Phil Evans was the sole 17'er to attend the Boston Alumni Dinner on February 23. He was seated with a group of 19'ers and reports having had a very fine time.

Mott and Fran Brown made a quick trip to San Francisco during mid-February for the dual purpose of (1) paying their first visit to their newest granddaughter, Anne Elizabeth Shev, and (2) taking in a trade convention. Of the two, the visit to Anne Elizabeth was far the more interesting!

The lure of Florida has attracted at least two more '17 couples, Hen and Rita Wacker and Doc and Cornelia Spears. The former are staying at Bradenton Beach until April, while the Spears are on a retirement-reconnaissance around the state. Gil Swett reports a humorous incident when he arranged Hen and Doc, roommates at college, face to face. It was obvious at the outset that Hen, though he put on a good front, failed to recognize Doc and his 175-pound sylph-like figure, as many of us did at our last reunion. Doc's identity had to be revealed to an unbelieving Hen, much to the latter's embarrassment.

Harlan (Scottie isn't dignified enough for a minister) Scott is still a preacher at the Pine Plains (N. Y.) Methodist Church. He reports that he is looking forward to retirement, but isn't yet ready to take the big step. He is one of those fortunate grandparents, having ten grandchildren. His son, Donald, is in Alaska with the Air Force.

Ping Doty is treasurer of Lydia E. Pinkham Co., Lynn, Mass., manufacturers of proprietary and ethical medicines.

For want of more exciting news I'll report that your Secretary has been elected treasurer of Woodstock's Ottauquechee Health Center, and that his wife, Helen, recently was elected chairman of the Women's Auxiliary of the Center.

On March 15 Lucile Nourse gave a talk at a meeting of the Dartmouth Women's Club in Boston describing the trip she and Larry took to Indonesia and on around the world. Larry gave Lucile an assist by showing motion pictures illustrative of the talk.

Distaff Chatter — Re Don's election as treasurer of our local Health Center - I didn't believe it could happen to a poor wife twice during her married life. For 26 long years during his service as Class treasurer I never dared buy a mink stole for fear auditors would rush in to go over the Class books. This new responsibility is even worse! The outgoing treasurer happily turned over the Center's ledgers and said, "Of course, if there is a large deficit, Don will make it up." In my new job I have been going around talking to Grange meetings, Home Demonstration groups etc., in order to create interest in the plans of the Health Center Auxiliary. These groups form the social centers of real Vermonters (outside of their churches) and there is no better way to get to know these fine people than to meet them at such organization meetings. And what food they serve!

Like all good Dartmouth wives, I hope you have been reading any of your husband's mail that bears the insignia of Class or College. The reunion in June will be one of the big ones and all wives who were reluctantly dragged to the 25th (and have been en- thusiastically returning ever since) look forward to renewing friendships created through the years by fall meetings, spring parties and football outings. We have a very friendly group and it is our hope to welcome any wife who has not attended before, or for some reason has missed some of the celebrations. Detailed information for the wives will go out in good season but for now, check the dates, June 12, 13 and 14, tell all children that grandma will not be available for baby sitting on those days, and be prepared for the best get-together ever.

Les Granger '18 (left) has been elected president of the International Conference of Social Work. He was elected to a two-year term at the January conference held in Rome.
