Paul Harvey, M.D., writes that he is still working full time at various medical schools and hospitals connected with the University of Southern California Medical School.
Paul reports about a special assignment in Pakistan, which he describes in the native language, so please forgive me for any mistakes and spelling errors. He examined the Afghan wounded soldiers there and determined which ones could best be treated in either Europe or America by surgeons (for free) to correct their deformities.
He was joined by his wife, Martha, and daughter Lucy '85 in August. A photo shows the three of them in native garb (except for '43 reunion jackets) on Khunjerab Pass. Paul had another daughter in the class of '82 and three others that went elsewhere.
A most welcome letter from Bodie Mosenthal says that recuperation is slow, but going in the right direction. At the time of his letter, he was staying in Norwich with his brother, Dr. William Mosenthal '38, but I imagine when this column is published in May he will be back in Corinth, Vt., splitting two cords of wood before breakfast. Bodie had an aorta dissection of the lower transverse section (the descending side). This is quite unusual and he feels that he is a model guinea pig.
Bud Hall writes about our classmates who obtained matching gifts for the Alumni Fund last year. They are: Lee Anderson,Hobby Daniels, Jim Donahue, Bob Ehringer, Bob Fuiks, Rog Gaskill, FritzGeller, Gil Gilfillan, Bob Grant, BobGrimshaw, Allan Hardie, Bob Hardy,Hex Harrigan, Frank Hartmann, TedHaskell, Kent Hutchinson, Don Jones,Al McBean, Mike McCormick, BobMcQueen, Scott Mitchell, George Munroe, Larry Noble, Paul Randall, ChanStevens, Don Taylor, George Tillson,Frank Torney, Seth Washburn, DaveWhittemore, and Con Young. This was the list as of July, and hopefully others will be added as they get their requests in to their companies. I'll keep you posted, or will Bing Donaldson, who has agreed to serve as the new matching gifts cordmator. If your name is not included and your employer does provide matching funds, now is the time to get your request started.
Tom Gerber sent, with deep regrets, the notice of Bill Glovsky's death on February 18. An obituary will follow at a later date. Shirl and I are off to Florida for the month of March. Hopefully, our next column will include the names of the couples who have been married 46 years or more, so that we can declare a winner!
