The midnight oil burns long these evenings as preparations for the Glee Club concert on March 20 become more unified and efficient. Bill Berge '45, Bob Woodberry '54, Ed Hunter '55, several Dartmouth wives, and numerous committees have started the major offensive against the ranks of waiting seats at the East High School auditorium where the concert will be held. "Don't ask them if they would like to buy some tickets," says Bill, "just ask them how many they want."

In other chambers, a nominating committee met; ex-Alumni councilmen, Tom P.Campbell '18 and John Cunningham '18, convened with present councilmen, Everett Parker '16, Ralph Richenbaugh '28 and HartGilchrist '31. They selected Neil Roberts '35 as nominee for the position soon to be vacated by Ralph Richenbaugh. Neil accepted. The importance of the position is manifested by the excellence of the men who have held it.

The Dartmouth Cup Ski Race this year, open as before to qualified entrants from high schools and prep schools of our area, will be engineered by veteran ex-Olympic skier, Colin Stewart '48, with old-hand Ed Hunter '55 standing by in advisory capacity. This is a fine race, usually blessed by a magnificent day and worthy of the attendance of as many of the alumni ski set as can negotiate the grandeur of Berthoud Pass to Winter Park, to both help and watch. Colin laid out the difficult and tricky course last year, so let it snow!

The monthly luncheon at the University Club was well attended and over our orange sherbet and coffee flowed the precise diction of Donald Hoaglund, lawyer, Yale-man, admirer of De Tocqueville and Mumford, hater of telephone poles, signs, and one-man-in-every-car habits of the commuters.

He spoke of City Planning as it applies to our own swollen metropolitan complex that is absorbing 3,000 additional people per month to the detriment of open space and patience and esthetics. Many questions posed; some answered. Even Hanover's bucolic landscape bears marks of strain, no doubt.

The enrollers among us report fifty or so complete applications for entrance in the Class of '65. If previous years are any criterion, twenty will be accepted and ten or fifteen will go - par for our area and a credit to us all.

These paragraphs end on an artistic note. In the window of Meininger's Art Store here in Denver reposes one of the superb railroad water colors for which Howie Fogg '38 of Boulder is everywhere so well known. To us devotees of steam and cinder, Howie is the end; drop by and see. This is a magnificent and nostalgic canvas.
