AN in-service training program for secondary-school biology teachers in New Hampshire and Vermont will be offered by Dartmouth College again this year.

A new course emphasizing "Field and Laboratory Techniques" has been planned for the third annual Saturday Institute of Biology. It will be supported by a $4,620 grant under the National Science Foundation's program of in-service institutes for secondary-school teachers.

Some 32 teachers at the junior and senior high school level will be selected for the course, according to Charles J. Lyon, professor of botany and director of the institute.

Sessions will be held on the first and third Saturdays of each month from October through March. Books, tuition and travel expenses will be provided from NSF funds.

The new course will include demonstrations of experimental procedures used by faculy members in Dartmouth's Botany and Zoology Departments, methods of building inexpensive laboratory equipment, ideas and procedures for field and laboratory studies, and detailed analysis of experimental techniques.
