Central Pennsylvania

The American Room of the Governor Hotel, Harrisburg, was the scene of the annual spring dinner meeting of the Dartmouth Alumni Club of Central Pennsylvania on April 10.

A relatively small gathering enthusiastically received an interesting and informative report by J. Michael McGean '49, Associate Secretary of the College, on the current status and developments at Dartmouth as viewed by the administration. Members of earlier classes in attendance were Bill Page '06, ConWilbur '13 and Harold Van Riper '14. Bill Burton, who is a successful early acceptance candidate for the class of '65, was the Club's guest.

During the brief business meeting presided by president Al Coons '43, it was announced that Ken MacDonald '30 was named National Enrollment Committeeman for District 26. Bill Conway '52, local chairman of the Enrollment and Interviewing committee gave a report of his committee's activities during the past year and thanked his interviewers for their aid. Secretary Doug Hoskins '54 reported on the Club's activities over the past year and read to the club a letter officially thanking John Page '39 for his many years of active and devoted service to the club and to Dartmouth. It also congratulated John on his being named to the Alumni Council. As chairman of the nominating committee John Page then announced the committee's choice for Club officers during the next year as: Bill Conway '52 president, JimKreider '52 vice president, and Doug Hoskins '54 secretary-treasurer. Con Wilber '13 quickly moved nominations be closed and the slate was elected unanimously.

Many thanks are due immediate past president Al Coons '43 for a job well done, guiding the club successfully through the year. On March 20 he and Louise hosted a group of area alumni and undergraduates to a delightful evening of good cheer and good fellowship in their home.

It is hoped that other Dartmouth graduates from the Central Pennsylvania area will be able to join us at future club affairs to renew old friendships and to catch up on college affairs.
