The high peaks of the front range are dusted with snow while spread beneath the evergreen forests and golden aspen lie tranquil in the autumn sunlight. Fall is here and with it comes a stirring of activity as the local men of Dartmouth prepare for the months to come.

Behind us lie the memories of last summer's many frolics and fun. One of the highlights at the end of the summer was the Annual Dartmouth Squaw picnic which was held in the mountains west of Denver during the latter part of August. There was a good turn-out of approximately forty, including braves and squaws. An excellent barbecue dinner was served and following the picnic those assembled gathered around the campfire and listened to Ev Parker '16,John Nelson '18, Don McMichael '53, and Don McKinley '37 entertain by lending their vocal and rhetorical talents. Others assembled on this occasion were Lee Brekke'40 and Pete Wells '63 who escorted NedGrant's '30 daughter, Susan. Several new faces were present and welcome. Attending the fire and helping at KP detail were Phil Hinkle '56, Jim Skinner '53, Glen Hannaford '27 and Dick Glissman '53.

Items of note on the local scene are that Dr. Louis T. Benezet '36, President of Colorado College at Colorado Springs, was honored by his designation as Speaker for Denver University's 99th Convocation. His theme, "A Region's Role in the University of Learning." Incidentally, it should be noted that Louis' son is in the freshman class at Dartmouth this year.

Monte Pascoe '57 and Bob Woodbury '54 are in charge of the Enrollment Committee Program this year, and we anticipate good results from these two and their assistants.

The first monthly luncheon meeting of the year was held Friday, September 28 at the University Club. Around the table were gathered many old and familiar faces such as Bill Berge '45, John Cunningham '18,Hart Gilchrist '31, Bob Jeavons '48, ChuckHenry '56 and Wynne Matteson '03, one of our more recent graduates.

Our speaker was Mr. Dick Witherill, Director of Public Relations for the Colorado Railroad Association. He enlightened us about the "featherbedding" problem and also presented an informative movie pointIng up the vital role of railroads in the atomic-space age.

President Bob Fullerton '51 and Vice-President Dick Shaw '39 were pleased with the attendance at the first luncheon of the season and encouraged all to come the fourth Friday of every month to get better acquainted with our fellow Dartmouth men.

Dartmouth Night in Detroit was a highlysuccessful affair, masterminded by HannyMason '57, Vice President Dave Moss'58, Seward Weber '49 of Hanover (guestspeaker), President Dave Mott '45, andSecretary-Treasurer Joe Kabat '58.
