I am glad someone is paying attention out there. Tony Moody realized my state of desperation and wrote in with all kinds of news. Rob Malkani and he recently finished up work as producer and executive producer, respectively, on a feature film they did in Ireland called Turning Green, "an edgy, irreverent coming-of-age comedy about an American teenager growing up in small-town Ireland and the lengths he goes to in his quest to return home to America." Be on the lookout for it next year.
Tony also filled me in on Jeff Owens and his wife, Deb Karazin '91, who have "two beautiful kids and live in a lovely home in a lovely town in Connecticut. It's all very lovely." Tony also mentioned Andrew Tolson and his wife, Ingrid, who are in Mill Valley, California. Tony gave props to Andrew, who has been at Merrill Lynch since we graduated. Can anyone else say that?
Another who took me up on my offer was Molly Phinney Baskette, who felt shamed into writing after seeing her name here. She admitted to living "a la Waltons in a huge Victorian parsonage, with my mother-in-law and my father, not to mention husband Peter and 2- year-old son Rafe."
Molly saw Betsy (Cowles) Gavron and Tricia Twomey during the spring. Betsy's oldest, Kyle, is hitting the 'tweens, and she also has a baby daughter, Abby. She is teaching junior high in the Wayland (Massachusetts) public schools. Tricia, meanwhile, recently had a daughter, Claudia, and has slowed down a little from her breakneck pace as a doctor.
Molly also informed me that Katherine (Aires) Byrnes and her husband and kids are leaving me alone here in Evanston, returning to D.C., and that Jennifer Williams is still with Fox News in New York. "We all met on the Cape this summer for those twin hedonistic pleasures," Molly wrote, "mini-golf and soft serve." How many of us thought we would be those people when we were at Dartmouth?
Molly also saw Aisha Tyler and her husband, Jeff Tietjens '91, in the spring, and said that while we all know about Aisha taking Hollywood by storm, "their real passion is making big pancake breakfasts together in the home they're rehabbing in L.A." How did I miss this in my Us Weekly subscription?
Falling into the "You Never Know Who You'll See When You're In Hanover" category, I was up there for a wedding in late August and who did I run into at EBA's? Tim and Corey (Quinn) Zeilman and their two young children, heading up to Vermont for a little vacation. They seemed to be trying to teach their toddlers the finer points of the chicken sandwich, but the kids seemed more interested in the fries (which, by the way, are a far cry from the spuds of olden days...that's my opinion, but I am just one man). I was on the run so it was a short visit, but it was great to catch up!
