The 1962 soccer season closed on a poor note as far as Coach Whitey Burnham's booters were concerned. With two weeks to go, the Indians stood in second place in the Ivy League. Their right to that position came by virtue of victories over Harvard 2-0, Yale 2-0, and Penn 3-1.
On Houseparties Weekend the Green faced Columbia on rain-soaked Chase Field. After taking a 2-0 halftime lead on goals by Steve Chase and Ron Knapp, the Indians found the Lions fighting back. The New Yorkers scored twice in the third period to tie the score and twice in the fourth period to put the game away.
The following weekend at Ithaca, things continued to look black to the Indians, as a Cornell goal at 7:30 of the final period gave the Big Red a 1-0 victory.
In non-league encounters Dartmouth tied Amherst 0-0, lost to a strong Williams team 2-1, and defeated Middlebury 3-1. Overall the Green registered five wins against five losses and one tie. The team stood 3-4 in the Ivy League.
Hey, watch that stuff, Chris! Harvardstar Christian Ohiri actually missed bothball and Dartmouth player. A 2-0 victorywent to the Indians.
