The American literary community found itself one quarterly richer as Odyssey Review began publication with its first issue in December. Odyssey Review is a quarterly of modern Latin American and European literature in English translation. Published by the Latin American and European Literary Society, a non-profit organization, it aims, to strengthen existing cultural and literary ties and establish new ones between this country and the countries of Europe and Latin America. Issues will make available for the first time in English the best of drama, fiction, poetry and criticism from these two continents.
One of three associate editors is Gregory Rabassa '44, Assistant Professor of Spanish at Columbia University. It is Mr. Rabassa's responsibility to seek out good, new and generally unknown writing from the Hispanic world. He reports that although the editors feel Odyssey Review is an ambitious undertaking, it is something vitally needed in the field of cultural exchange.
