For two months your secretary has apologized for the brevity of these offerings and promised a major effort. Alas, I don't see how I can do it again. So, with the required reminder of the Alumni Fund and a passing nod to Spring, here we go.
Aaron Margolis has been awarded the certificate of a certified public accountant in Massachusetts. After Tuck School Aaron spent a couple of years with the Army in the Caribbean, and is now associated with the firm of Greenspan and Greenspan in Holyoke. With wife Doris and three children he lives in nearby Longmeadow. After two years' association with Zuckerman, Smith and Co., George Robinson was recently admitted to the firm, members of the New York Stock Exchange, as a general partner. In Conn., Dick Trowbridge has been named manager of the Norwalk office of the Southern New England Telephone Company. Dick joined the Southern New England Co. in 1956 from the New York Telephone Co. Pete Kenyon has been named general sales manager of Performance Incentives Corporation in South Hackensack, N. J. Pete joined the Grand Union company in 1955 after Tuck School. He has served as coordinator of their management development course, as personnel manager of the suburban division, as assistant to the vice president in charge of sales, and as national accounts manager of the Stop and Save Trading Stamp Corporation, the Grand Union sales stamp distributing subsidiary.
From Needham, Mass., comes word that the assistant treasurer of Emmco Plastics Corporation, Phil Christophe, has been elected chairman of the Republican Town Committee. Phil has been quite active in local Republican activities, having previously served as vice president of the Young Republican Club and chairman of the 1960 Republican Finance Committee. Joe Davis has joined the marketing research department of the advertising firm of Doyle, Dane, Bernbash, Inc. Kev Sullivan has been named assistant secretary of the Manufacturers and Traders Trust Co. of Buffalo, N. Y. Previously, Kev was assistant manager of the Branch Office Department. Dick Leary is involved with city planning in Brookline, Mass., as administrative assistant to the executive secretary of the Board of Selectmen. Dick had been serving in a similar capacity in Medford, Mass. Bare Jameson is representing the fourth estate as editor of the "Golden Transcript" in Golden, Colo. From New York comes word that Ken Meyer is a construction superintendent with Henegan Construction Co., and Barry Nova is an account executive with Lennen and Newell. Ev Murphy is one of that dwindling number of the American "self-employed." Ev owns the "Treat Shoppee" in Talcotville, Conn.
From Academia Fifty-fours continue to make news. Duke University recently conferred a doctorate in psychology upon BobCanestrari. Bob took his Master's degree at the College of William and Mary. He has joined the research unit at Kecoughton Veterans Memorial Hospital in Hampton, Va. In October of last year, Don Taylor was appointed an Assistant Professor of Nematology, in the Department of Plant Pathology at the University of Illinois. Don did his graduate work at Maryland and Minnesota, receiving his doctorate from the latter last year. Chuck Wescott, a naturalist for the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, Ill., gave a series of lectures this fall under the auspices of the Chicago Public Library.
Mike Messore has been named a general attorney on the staff of the Providence regional office of the Veterans Administration. With wife Constance and son Mike III, Counselor Messore lives in nearby Edgewood, R. I. Lloyd Tepper is now with the Medical Department of the Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester, N. Y., and Ed Kieger has become a Resident Physician at the Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital. BenGilson is a Naval Orthopedic Surgeon at the U.S. Naval Hospital, National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md.
In Slidell, La., the parents of Diana Sloat announced her engagement to Lewis Hathaway Nash. "Beaver" is coordinator of special programs for the graduate school of business administration at the University of California at Berkeley. Diana is a 1960 Wellesley graduate. Beaver spent two recent years earning an MBA from his present employer, California. A first child, Jonathan Phillips Cooke, was born to Phil and SallyCooke on New Year's Day. Young Jonathan arrived at 1:57 A.M., to be the first baby of the year at the Salem (Mass.) Hospital. I hope that helps to compensate for losing $600 by less than two hours.
Finally, all will be saddened to hear of the untimely and tragic death of Bill Fox in an airplane crash in France. (See In Memoriam in the February issue.) We add our condolences to his many, many friends, and especially to his family.
Dave Mandelbaum's Class dues campaign must be just about wrapped up. But if you have been one of those for whom the third and final plea is required (can you guess how I know there is a third billing?), may I request that you leave the delinquent ranks with the dispatch of a five-spot.
