February is traditionally the month for Valentines, birthdays of great Americans, and Class secretaries' discussions about how old winter has become. Your secretary hopes you get plenty of Valentines and, perhaps, a holiday on somebody's birthday. But, though he would like to commiserate with you about the weather, he must confess ducking the worst of it with a trip to India. Lee Huff, who works with the Advanced Research Projects Agency of the Department of Defense, has just suffered through one of Washington's worst winters, yet disclaimed this as sufficient cause to write a guest column.

Most of this month's information can be classified under a couple of categories of changes familiar to these pages - in marital status or in position. (When out of college six years, one should stop saying "job.") With regard to the first category, most every event reported was well attended by classmates. Pete Geithner was married to the former Deborah Moore in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., surrounded by what must be the largest crowd of Fifty-fours since reunion. Among those in attendance were Jon Moore, also brother of the bride, Dave McLaughlin,John Heston, Bill Mansfield, Skip Weymouth, and Burt Flounders '52. Everything but the gown was green, for Deborah's father is Charles F. Moore Jr. '25. Last October Dr. Dave Levine married Janet Cohen of New York City, assisted by best man Barry Levin and Paul Dabney. Dave is currently completing his medical service with the Navy and was recently transferred from the USS Forrestal to the Naval Base at Green Cove Springs, Fla. He plans to start a residency in orthopedic surgery at the Cornell Medical Center's Hospital for Special Surgery in New York next summer.

In Waterbury, Conn., earlier this winter, Gerry Post married the former Rosemary Colberg. The Posts have settled in Cheshire, Conn., where Gerry is associated with MacDermid Inc. Finally, Bill Murane also joined the married legion recently. (Recently is a word class secretaries use when an event happened so long ago they are ashamed to give the date.) At the wedding were Dr. Dan Weidenthal, Ed Hobbie, and Fred Miller '53. Bill has just finished his hitch with the Judge Advocate General Staff of the Air Force. Now he and wife Rosemarie will leave for Denver where Bill intends to practice law.

Still with the Air Force, and also with the Judge Advocate General Staff, is B.U. lawyer Mike Messore, who has been promoted to Captain. Mike, wife Constance, and son Mike III live in Charleston, S. C., where Mike is stationed. Frank van Aalst has completed his studies at Princeton Theological Seminary and now has a Danforth Foundation scholarship to complete a Ph.D. in Indian (South Asian rather than American) history at the University of Pennsylvania. Frank and his wife, Jeannette, plan to return to India after this. Mike Corcoran and his bride of six months, Sharon, have settled in London, where Mike was recently transferred by Continental Oil. When they departed our shores, the sailing of the SS Independence was delayed ten minutes because of the unwillingness of the Corcorans and well wisher Bob Vorsanger to consume their champagne with dispatch.

While speaking of ships, we hear that the USS Grenadier went down in the Atlantic with Navy Lieutenant Harry Rockefeller aboard. Fortunately, the Grenadier is a submarine. Dick Danforth started the new year by becoming a partner in the newly formed New York law firm of Davidoff, Levinson and Davidoff. Bruce Classon, who holds an MBA from Harvard, has been elected as an assistant secretary with James Talcott Inc. Bruce has been working in New York with the factoring division of this large industrial financing corporation. Bill Pitney is with Abraham Straus in Brooklyn and is living in Far Rockaway, N. Y. In Worcester, the Mechanics National Bank promoted MauryWilkins to assistant trust officer. After service in the Marines, Maury worked in Florida with Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company before joining the Worcester bank. Lastly, we have the latest report on the Gates family: Dick, Ginny, young daughter Lisa, and younger son Billy. "Pear" (imagine he's gotten over that as he gets older) is head of a branch bank in Norwich, Conn.

If you can, turn out for the spring semester visits of College representatives at your local area clubs. It is usually an enjoyable evening and a method of keeping in touch with events at the College, less expensive than fund drives and more intellectual than post-game beer busts. I would like to hear who you see there and what he's doing.
