President Dale Barker's message to the Class in Jack Ferguson's February Newsletter strikes a responsive note and I'd like to pinpoint his final word to "keep us well advised with news items of yourself and other members of the Class family."

That's "some team" Duze Lounsberry has lined up for the Alumni Fund and, with our commitments to the Capital Gifts program disposed of, we can now give our whole and undivided attention (and dollars) to the Fund. Our traditional spot at the head of our Green Derby group is ready and waiting and, while we welcome the ardent competition of adjoining classes, let there be no doubt as to the winner at the tape! Right?

Duze and Helen concocted a sort of goodbye dinner to Dale and Bess Barker and Bud and Tex Doe who took off for Florida in mid-February. Duze also reports their "family" were off to Accra, Ghana at about the same time.

Those of us who did some "playing" around Boston before and after graduation well remember the part played by Harry McDevitt '07 in dispensing hospitality to us "youngsters" and we are saddened by his passing. A great guy and what singing voice!

Eben Clough reports a rare catch of native shrimp off Gloucester helped brighten a supper party for some friends at their "WeeToo" ranch back in February. Eben says Chan Foster and George Simpson were some of those who trekked off to swim in some of those kidney-shaped pools in Florida. '15ers who were present to make the Boston Alumni dinner a success included Kike Richardson, Chan Foster, Eben Clough, Dale Barker, George Simpson, Sid Bull, Ned Shea, Al Sherman and Gen. Howie Fuller (Howie took time off from a VA meeting to make the party). Kike and Eben were getting set for their annual ice-fishing trip up north to Kike's Kozy Kamp.

And from Florida come alluring enticements in color of orange orchards, lush pickerettes in shorts, sumptuous poolside scenes and expanses of motel surroundings —.-accentuated by pert pennings from the Dale Barkers and the Gib Campbells - all from the Sarasota and Winter Haven areas. Bess xx'es the Campbell room overlooking the pool; Gib enlarges on trying to get Dale to taken an evening dip; Claire hints that one more drink and Dale would have made it; and temperatures ranged from 72 to 82 degrees! It is evident Gib is recuperating nicely from his hospitalization! Which is good news.

Another missive from Stirling Wilson '16 in Ormond Beach carries that somewhat startling letterhead SPEBSQSA —if you want an interesting evening, tune in on one of that Society's annual contests.

I am sorry to report the passing of our good classmate and loyal Dartmouth supporter, Takanaga Mitsui, on February 11, in Tokyo. Our sincere sympathy goes out to his wife, Hiroko, his two Dartmouth sons, Nobu '43 and Mori '58, and the other members of the family.

Art Nichols, from whom your present Secretary inherited this job, has announced his retirement as purchasing agent for Turner construction Co. effective as of March 31. As Bob Fredericks puts it, Nick can now sleep as late as he wants to, and Nick says he's looking forward to getting back into reasonable circulation again. Attaboy ,Nick!

The blue-blooded British American Chronicle gives a full-page write-up on Dr. Hugh Grant Rowell. Some extracts therefrom refer to his part in the restoration of Philipse Castle his listing in Who's Who, his membership in the British American Society whose royal patrons include Queen Elizabeth his exhibits in several museums, and membership in fraternities, academic, medical, Masonic and educational "as long as your arm."

It is pleasing to us all to note the citation given to Al Bradley at the Trustee-Alumni Council banquet on January 26, and particularly that there is "a living monument on Hanover Plain to your profound belief in the highest principles of this institution ... the new, magnificent Albert Bradley Center for Mathematics."

A late news item reports that Walter Wanger and Joan Bennett have come to the parting of the ways with a divorce in prospect. We are all awaiting the more pleasant news that his picture "Cleopatra" has become an actuality and ready for presentation in the fall.

Under the heading "Sought One Term, Stayed 30 Years on Summit Bench," PerryH. Stevens, Ohio's senior appellate court judge, is still not ready to lay down his gavel and says he will seek nomination for another six-year term. Referred to as "the spry, trim-figured jurist," he makes no bones about being displeased with the judges' pay scale in the state of Ohio but is able to get along with the aid of a private income. Perry's great love is fishing and hunting. An expert at both, he is one of the finest bird shots in Akron and ranks among the best fly fishermen. Hey, Perry - which is the vocation and which the avocation?

Jack Ferguson was scheduled to take off for the Pacific Coast March 14 and be gone 'til the end of April. Ah - these retirees!
